I really can’t stop myself from asking the obvious question, namely why would you want to remove password or pin protection from a pc?

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I have always run my laptop Windows system without a password or PIN - press power on and it comes straight up to the desktop

That’s convenient. You don’t worry that someone might steal it and have access to all your information?

No not really as there is nothing of value on there - only photos, videos, films, music and documents with no security value

All of my secure stuff (eg banking, email etc) is on my phone

Also since I have the operating system (windows) on C and all my data on D then putting a pin for power up would not really protect much because yes they would not be able to boot the laptop but all they would have to do if they stole it was take the HDD out to be able to read D (unless of course I encrypted D with bitlocker)

I have a lot of private stuff on my PC. For example, I store passwords in Chrome, so anyone with access to my PC has access to all my online accounts unless they have TFA or passkeys. Just imagine, they could post to MSE under my name!
