We have a Hitachi A2A at a family home (off gas grid, no oil, ex E7 storage heaters - so electric heating with a supplementary A2A in main living space.

The A2A unit is good, reliable and can perform cooling and heating.

But personally I don't like sitting in the room near it while it is running hard and doing the job. Something about the forced hot air, dryness, some dust circulation - I could not say what the issue is. Not as bad as sitting all evening feeding a woodstove and door opening plumes of particulates.

But similarly allergenic (to me) to a lesser extent. The "filters" in the Hitachi unit are risible. I have yet to see a consumer targeted one which is taking air quality seriously

I think they are a good idea. And mesh well with some other eco ideas. But if you are like me and in the specific location you will be sat under/next to it. Try one first.

I've got an air quality monitor in my lounge (green/orange/red) and it very rarely moved from green even when I opened the stove door (unless I'd made a cods of refuelling). It regularly went red as a result of cooking on the hob in the kitchen - an adjacent but separate room. The hob is induction, so not even an issue with gas..

The heat pump I hope to get is a Daikin so hope their filters are better than the ones you experienced.
