Frosty melts the mortgage!

I’ve nearly finished all my holiday washing! Just the towels left to do.
I have run out of laundry liquid though and in the spirit of having a no spend week, the towels will have to wait until I do my food shopping at the weekend.
So… Tuesday and another successful NSD.
I did some sums. Of my current monthly payment, only £283 goes on the capital and the rest on the interest.
That means a £3,000 overpayment would reduce my mortgage by roughly the same amount as 10.5 months of my normal capital repayments. £3,396 would equate to a year of capital repayments. So something to keep in mind when I’m fed up.
Caused me some pain when I logged in this morning and saw the balance had only gone down from £80,681 to £80,397 😂 Roll on August when I can make an overpayment.

A tick for another NSD. My no spend week is going well!
Popped into my parents to drop some things off and took a bit of my mum’s laundry liquid (with permission!) so I can in fact finish off my holiday washing. I want to make the most of the hot weather as I have to hang my washing up to dry inside the flat, and obviously in this heat it dries so quickly.
I will not be having a NSD at the weekend because I’m sick of looking at the grey walls in my lounge (bought the flat from a landlord, the grey was already here and not my choice). So I’m going to buy a tin of brilliant white and paint it. Probably one wall at a time knowing me and my attention span. But still, hopefully that will make a nice change.
On a local Facebook group, someone asked whether there’s anyone in our area who will take clothes, wash them, do all the photography and then list them on Vinted and send them out, taking a cut of the profit as payment.
As I am really disheartened by Vinted, I messaged two people who said they could help, but they haven’t messaged me back. Might be going to a car book sale at the weekend so I could take a few things with me then.
And nothing else really happened.

Car boot sale should be fun and any money in the pot is a good thing!
Why are you disheartened with vinted?

@PenniesIntoPounds Just because nothing is selling! Planning to take all my clothes to the car boot and see if I can get rid of them there.
I spoke to a colleague and she mentioned she’s selling on Vinted, and her strategy is just to list everything for £5. Seems to be working for her so maybe I should jump on that bandwagon.
I mean at the very least there will be an ice cream van at the car boot so if I make enough for an ice cream I’ll be happy 😂😂
Today was not a NSD as I had to go into the office at the last minute and so I bought lunch there. I suppose £5.45 isn’t exactly a frivolous spend, and couldn’t be helped. Not quite a no spend week but almost.

Hope you can flog them at boot sale but yeah definitely stick them back on vinted if not, any money for stuff you don't want is a boon to the savings pot!
Btw if you want to tag me, I have not got a grammatically correct username 😂

Oh whoops! 😅 Completely tagging the wrong person @PennysIntoPounds - that’s better, got it right this time 😆

Car boot sale today! I went with my mum and dad as they are decluttering, and we made £60 profit. We divided it between the 3 of us so we all got £20 ☺️ I finally sold about 6 dresses, a bag and a pair of sandals and so I am very happy.
I still came away with some clothes that didn’t sell. If my parents decide they’re going back to the car boot I will take them back with me, but if not, one of the Vinted sellers has messaged me back so I’ll give my stuff to her.
The £20 has been added to my money box. I think there was already about £40 in there. I collect cash throughout the year and then at the end of the year I’ll empty it and pay it into the bank. Last year I took money out each month and put it in there, but I haven’t been doing that this year.

Fab £20, well done 🥂
Really like the idea of end of year money box going to the bank, but what's your OP situation with mortgage bank? Might be worth putting payments when you're able to so you get interest or capital down?

Yeah I mean I guess I will wait to the end of the year to see what I have saved - that’s the idea of my money box, to just collect throughout the year.
My overpayments have to be a minimum of £500 so if I end the year with not much more cash than £60… I mean I’d have to find another £400 or so to make an overpayment. Realistically come December and Christmas and having to stretch December’s earlier pay to the very end of January I’m not sure that would be feasible. I think that’s what you meant?

Yep that's what I meant, some people are able to pop smaller amounts into mortgage OPs but like you I can only do min £500. Well in that case an end of year cash pot sounds excellent for Christmas season/new year boost!
