Gas and Electric Meters have a finite life and have to be replaced. The old fashioned Gas meters are being phased out and when supplies are no longer available they are replaced with the modern versions. It may be a Smart Meter but if you do not subscribe to Smart Meters (Like a lot of people) then it will be set in DUMB Mode and will still have to be physically read.
Network Plus are a genuine company - I have dealing with them via the National Electricity Scheme (NERS) - LQRA
