Smarty SIM - on '3' - very poor download speeds.

Yes, I used 192.168.1.1 which took me to the BT account, where I was expected to register. I didn't bother.

When I inserted the 3 card in my Pixel, I'm sure the APN settings changed automatically. I'll double-check, tho'.

WIAWSNB I have never had to register an account to get access to a router before.

BT/EE router is 192.168.1.1 and then input admin and admin or if you look under the battery cover there maybe a admin/password combo on there.

Hi Boohoo, I'm a dumbo.

I had the BT router beside my main PC when I tried to log in on the PC using 192.1.1, and of course this took me to the house BB router and not the BT one… Cough.

Ok, I put my own SIM (Lebara/Vodfone) in the BT router (daughter has the Smarty SIM with her, and I won't have it until Monday.) Connected my phone to the BT router, tried a speed test - a not impressive 21Mbps, but this is indoors.

Logged on to 192, and most of it doesn't make sense to me, tho' I note it uses LTE Band 1.

I think it's clear the BT router is not locked to any network - it also worked with '3', albeit very slowly.

Is there anything here I could check and tweak (although I hate tweaks when I don't understand them, as I might struggle to go back to default…)

In any case, I have bought a T-Link MR100, which I hope will work better.

Yesterday I thought I gave you a link to smarty community but checked today and I never did so here's a link.

That link is for someone who has a different router but it should give some ideas and if you read all the posts on there there is the bit about APN settings.

You may have to wait till you get the SIM card to try the settings.

One thing you(I do this a lot) could do is take photos of the page settings before you change anything so if needed you can change them back.

21Mbps is good enough for a single person.

Honestly, I won't bother about buying T-Link MR100. I would probably Hotspot from phone. (assuming your daughter has free sim slot/ esim on her phone)

Actually tried the Tp-Link this afternoon, and - as suggested by Cisco - it made no difference. 🙄

The 4G around here, especially on '3', is fine for general surfing, but inadequate for any streaming. Lebara, Vodafone, was better, but still barely adequate.

'3' was 10Mbps tops, but usually around 2-3 - that's really bad. Voda went up to mid-20's, which is 'ok', but you still can't stream reliably with that.

So, now selling a wee BT router, and a Tp-Link…
