Motorola F3 free with trade-in at Carphone warehouse

Hi all.
I went into Carphone Warehouse today to get my old man a new phone and was told the Motofone F3 is free when bought with £10 airtime on Virgin PAYG.
BUT Carphone Warehouse will give you £10 off your purchase if you take in a working phone with a charger, so I did and got the new one for free!!
It's also on their website here.Excellent.
So technically when your old man's F3 runs out of credit you could take it back again to Car phone warehouse and get a new one with £10 credit on it.
For free!

gotta say having played around on it this afternoon its quite a handy phone to have... a slim piece of plastic that can sit in my pocket without noticing it.
and then if i ever get mugged and the mr attacker demands my mobile phone, this can be a nice lil lifesaver without any risks (apart from losing whatever credit's left on my free £10). to be fair though, it does function well as a phone and loudspeaker is loud and clear unlike some phones ive seen!
p.s. yeah technically we should be able to trade this in for another F3 with £10 credit!0 -

does the credit come in the box or is it already loaded onto the simcard?

yes, is the £10 credit preloaded on sim or do you get the £10 top-up voucher?
I think the clue to the answer is there, you are buying the phone and buying a £10 top up, so you can buy the phone without the top up, so you get a voucher to top up the phone with. Thats the way its always worked with any phone I have bought under such offers with Virgin.
AFAIK all virgin phones are locked to virgin they will unlock for free when you have spent a certain ammount with them.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -

Having just checked with my local CPW - they said it would be loaded there and then in the store onto the sim. it would go on automatically when the simcard was scanned with the payment.

You need to understand who it's for.
It was not designed for us in the developed world, it was developed as a low cost, low feature phone for sale in deveping countries. It's deliberatly simple and low features, it makes the batter last longer. The screen is a eInk one that should be readable in much more conditions than the full colour screens we are used to in the UK.0 -
Yes, the amount is £30. Although I'm sure I remember some people in previous threads who said they just phoned up and got it done without a spend. Maybe it's one of those "depends who you talk to" things.AFAIK all virgin phones are locked to virgin they will unlock for free when you have spent a certain ammount with them. The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.
