71 Year Old OAP Trying To Get My Money Back From Wren Kitchens
Comments

But, that can't be right (with due respect, sir!) because in the first post the OP says:
"16 months later I'm at the end of my tether trying to get a nice new kitchen"
So, does the OP want a new kitchen? (The answer seems to be yes.)
And, has he said what's wrong with the Wren units? (Nothing, AFAICS.)
Is it my age, and the fact I'm an OAP, that makes this so confusing? Or, is there a bit missing?
And, given that prices generally have risen over the last 16 months, what does the OP expect to do with the money if he does manage to get a refund? (Fairly unlikely given that the sales team will have had their bonus by now.) Does he want to go to AN Other kitchen company, pay them a larger sum for units, and then find that fitting still costs whatever it costs?
Has he been to other companies to get quotes including fitting?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1 -
The wording I was referring to is shortly after the bit you quoted:
16 months later I'm at the end of my tether trying to get a nice new kitchen, it has turned into a nightmare. Wren Kitchens have £4,631.41 from my savings and I have nothing in return. How can I get my money back from Wren?
but it's quite a leap from difficulties in finding an acceptable fitter to making a case of breach of contract, or similar, to warrant an expectation of a refund.

Ok, thanks I'll check all the emails I have, just to be sure. Because of the world economic situation at the moment and if things start to get worse, am a bit worried Wren goes bust and I don't get a refund.

Court action won't be rapid. You'll need to give them two weeks to respond, then you start the process. Last I heard there was a wait of a few months before cases are heard, although a couple of posters recently claim to have had much faster turnaround than that (if you believe them).
Court action should only be your last resort IF you have evidence they've breached the contract. I see nothing to suggest they have, but you seem determined to persuade us on here that they have, so the only way to test that is to take them to court. They clearly feel on solid enough ground to have refused to cancel the contract so far.

So, do you no longer want a new kitchen?

I don’t think the OP wants a new kitchen from Wren now, after all the problems with getting a fitter.
They want a refund so they can look elsewhere for a new kitchen.

But then the OP will still need to find a Fitter 🤷♀️

Trouble here is, that situation like this are part of the cause of companies going bust.
Over a year since purchase & no fitter found. 🤷♀️
10 mins on local facebook page would have found one.
Life in the slow lane1 -
There are companies who provide a total service - from design, supply of units/tiles/worktops/appliances and also fitting.
We had our bathrooms done by a company who did that and have found a kitchen company who does that.
If there is a problem you don't get the tiler blaming the plumber etc.

Before you go to all this trouble, starting a rather difficult court case, have you figured out exactly what you are going to do about the new kitchen? Any quotes you get now will not be binding b6 the time your court case has been heard, but at least you will have a reasonable ballpark figure for what you’re looking at spending.
