I don't know about these routers, but my router (bought separately) has a solution. Maybe it would work for you.
My router allows me to set up a secondary network. My main network is 2.4 and 5 combined. The secondary network I have set to 2.4 only.

Why not just split them fully (presuming your unknown router can) so you've got a 5Ghz and a 2.4Ghz network with different names?

I know this router has, what they're calling, a wifi compatibility mode which in effect creates a separate SSID which may allow the bands to be split. I'll have a play with that later but fortunately my older devices did manage to connect alright to the 2.4ghz band.

Glad to read you got up and running.
I have a few 2.4GHz items that were a bit tricky to connect but it is easy enough on the Sky router to disable the 5GHz while things get set up.
Now if only I could get my Octopus Home Mini to connect……
