Issues confirming ID with Trading 212
Hi all, I am attempting to set up an account with Trading 212 but have hit an issue with confirming my ID. When I scanned the OR code from PC to Phone I am then taken to some ambulance chasing legal firm called Locksley Law regarding car finance. Unfortunately I thought they were part of the process in confirming my ID so they now have all my details.
How do I actually confirm my ID with Trading 212 or is it all just a scam?

Are you sure you filled in your details on the actual Trading 212 site?
Or did you use the official T212 App?
I have done this a number of times with no issues, T212 themselves are most certainly not a scam.

I helped a friend open a T212 account last Friday and on scanning the QR code on a PC it certainly didn't link to anything on her phone apart from opening the verification process of scanning an ID document and recording a selfie video.
In fact it was all pretty slick and easy, no way is T212 a scam.1 -
Thanks, I went from the link on this website to get the newbie bonus and all seemed grand until i tried to confirm my ID. I will try again via your link but my email etc is now registered with them, I just keep being directed to these solicitors when I get to the QR code. I am using a third party QR scanner as there isnt one built in to my phone but have never had issues using it previously.

I thought that the App did the scanning directly, but not 100% sure. The third party app could very possibly be the problem.
The only problem I have had with scanning on T212 is often when I log in on my desktop PC rather than on the app as usual, it asks me to take a short video for verification purposes, but my desktop PC has no camera capability.
I've just been pressing cancel for the last 6 months and the site really doesn't seem to care! 🤷♂️

The most prominent "open" button after I scanned QR code was an ad, so think I clicked that, so they now have all my details.

I got a bit further this time but when I eventually got passport details uploaded I then had to record a video which freezes as soon as my face is in the frame and despite numerous attempts I cant confirm my ID. Think I'll just leave the lot in Premium Bonds as it is less hassle. Thanks all for your help.

We found that the quality of video required by Trading 212 was better than we could manage on either of two mobiles tried -seems to require upmarket devices to successfully register!

…..and people wonder how scammers get all your details……
Other random QR codes to scan are available at bus stops, pub toilets and car park signs.

A QR code is just a URL in drag. You can find apps and/or websites that will extract the URL, or just show it to you, and then you can simply copy the URL, or open it in a browser.
