Group tour I went on was age-profiled without me knowing
Just been on a tour where the group was split in 2 based on age and I was in the group with ages 67+ and one group did the tour clockwise and the other anti-clockwise so we only interacted for a very short time on day 1 before we knew we'd been age-profiled into different groups I'm in my 70s but feel very young at heart and adventurous and I've been going on group tours for over 20 years and have always enjoyed the mix of ages as well as the mix of backgrounds which provides for a very good group dynamic in my experience, so if I'd known I was going to be in a group of 67-83 yo I would never have booked the tour. At least with Saga even you know the ages are going to be 50+. I assumed the mix of my fellow travelers would be entirely random like every other tour I've been on and I wondered if I had any case for compensation?

You are entitled for any financial loss, which in this case is zero.

What do you want compensation for?

If this is so important for you did you check with the tour operator beforehand that you would be in a mixed age group?
Assuming not then you have no basis of any claim, even if they had made such a promise it is difficult to see how you could convince someone you had a material loss as a consequence.

if the tour was delivered as promised then It doesnt seem like you've suffered any loss.
Did you specify any of this when making the booking?

Unless I've misread/misunderstood - you were placed in the appropriate age group for a 70 year old - sounds entirely reasonable to me.

If I were you I would make a complaint. You might get a goodwill payment but I think it’s unlikely. I can see why you’re displeased - if it’s not advertised as a seniors tour I think you have a right to complain.

If the OP is in their 70's and displeased at being in a group of 67+ yo, what was the age mix of the other group?

Under 67, presumably.

Sorry, but I thought mine was a sensible question. It might well be a tour that inherently attracts a more mature client base and the youngest in the other group might also be north of 60 - there might be very little on practical basis between the agility and mindset of the two groups.

In that case there would be no need to divide by age?
