Hello from hippy chick :)
Good day today ( although I may pay for it later) 12 days post hip replacement, had 24 clips removed ( I think she was exaggerating), and can walk so much better, did 300 yards.
Beautiful day here , so hubby carried my seed trays outside and I spent a lovely hour or so pricking out beetroot, kale, tomato, chard and sunflower seeds. Now madly clearing windowsills to find room!. Have moved the padron peppers and chillies to a warmer room in the hope they might germinate.
In April I'll sow dwarf purple french beans and corn salad.
Once hubby has shovelled soil back into my raised beds, then I'll direct sow chantenay carrots at the front, the beans will go at the back.
The other 2 beds will have my transplanted kale and beetroot and mangetout will grow over the sides.
Last to plant will be 2 courgettes to go in a low raised bed which also has rhubarb and a large blackcurrant bush.
My red Windsor apple tree should be taking a year off, but it's fruited the last two years, it's under planted with wild garlic, so pesto will be on the menu soon
Strawberry plants at the other end of the garden are putting on new leaves, then I've got two potato growing bags which don't usually provide much, but I enjoy the childish furkling around to find the last potato.
How are everyone else's plans coming along? Anyone else run out of room?
And why do men leave the front and back doors open when putting stuff away?

Congratulations Middlwife 🙂 it's good to get over a hurdle and things get better instead of struggling. My friend is 6 weeks on , is walking ok. Today she can drive again and going for a slow venture out. I've said I'll keep off the road 😄
My yellow tom plants that were first to germinate two of the four have rotted off. I think I may have more in the shed but it was a disappointment because they were so strong.
The torrents and high winds we had left the trays in deep water again and I wasn't staggering out to get them in that. They are all back in shelter. Everything has germinated but just sitting there so far, not growing.
Do they know something we don't?

Nature is wiser than we think, she's been around for a while. Sorry about your toms, maybe try again, they'll probably catch up .....

I was only 77 when I had mine & was driving at 4 weeks fortunately. My biggest problem was sitting when the angle of body to thigh was less than 90 degrees. I used to get a bit achy but thankfully back up to 10k steps a day now. The thing I hated most about it was having to have supermarket deliveries for those 4 weeks. It was a great incentive to get moving. I still prefer sitting in my typing chair to any other.
Men always leave doors open even if you remind them 10 seconds before.

Thanks bad memory, I stocked the freezers so Mr middle wife only has to do a top up shop at Lidl. Had my shoulder repaired last year so getting quite good at this surgery recovery now! Enjoy the sun, I am, apparently, being taken out somewhere this afternoon, as long as I've got my squidgy cushion to sit on, I'll be fine....

Squidgy cushion noted.
Fortunately my other leg is good so far, shoulders ok.
I'm working on a trolley for wheeling water to plants.

Once I managed to walk with one crutch things got a lot easier. Decided I'd walk a bit further today to the park entrance cos the ice-cream van parks up en route to the local secondary and primary school and reward my efforts with a 99. He wasn't there !!!!! So hubby despatched to Lidl instead.. also found out my Garmin watch missed half the steps so I've actually walked twice as far.....

I HAVE chilli seedlings, just poking through! Unfortunately our heating packed up 3 days ago, so waiting for engineer again, it also failed last October, had a new control unit fitted but seems to have broken again.
Hopefully now they're showing they'll keep going, not worth a photo yet.....

Ha ha! Saw physio today, oh boy, did he up the ante! ( They always do). So bad news, loads more exercises, good news only have to do them twice a day.
Basically now have to do all the exercises standing on the bad leg, have to practice getting on and off the floor so I can do glute bridge, side steps and try to come down half the stairs normally, without crutches. I tried the spin bike but 30 seconds in it started aching so need to try again in a few days. I have birthday present from hubby of 10 sessions in the dead sea salt hydrotherapy pool at the local spa, but need to be a bit more balanced as it's quite slippery. Used it last year with my shoulder and you can move a lot better in the warm water than at the cold leisure centre.
I'm supposed to walk outside twice a day but not if it rains. Managed 10 minutes at a time with both crutches. Lot more comfortable since I wrapped thick walking socks round the handles
Going back to desk job for 3 hours tomorrow, stern instructions to get up every twenty minutes, so all in all not bad for 4 weeks ( well 3 weeks and 6 days)
How are you getting on?
Edited to add, I've also got to start pumping iron again to build up my shoulder, because I can't stand up to do it, it will be harder as I can't engage my core muscles ( wherever they've gone...)
