Excel also has worked for me for past 30 years.

I use a budget planner (excel workbook) which is free from the Australian Government, I just updated the currency, been using it for years. It covers everything including payments (weekly, monthly and quarterly)

AceMoney (https://www.mechcad.net/) has served me well for many years. There's a one-off cost of about £40 to buy it.
Someone else has already mentioned MoneyManager EX (https://moneymanagerex.org/). That looks like a good (free) alternative, but it didn't exist when I was looking.

Out of interest do the people using Excel pay the yearly subscription for Microsoft Office?
I use Google sheets for budgeting because Office is too expensive but I much prefer excel.
