Martin Lewis: Heating oil & LPG price hikes – are firms playing fair? We need your feedback…

My heating oil has gone from 61p a litre to currently £1.45 a litre that’s for 2000 litres to last some 4 months. Now instead of costing approx £1100 it is over £3000 for 2000 litres making it impossible to purchase. Our house is currently 12 degrees c and has been for the last few weeks, most of it is shut off apart from 2 rooms with small electric heaters. There is no meaningful will on behalf of the government to provide most rural homes like ours with help. It’s a scandal and especially when we have North Sea reserves sitting on our Scottish doorstep. Rob, Arbroath.

If 2000 litres of oil (providing ~20,000kWh of heat) only lasts you four months, I'd suggest that you need more insulation.
Or, alternatively, a smaller mansion.
