Life in the slow lane0 -
Then your friend needs to make a complaint to - and a claim against - ParcelForce, doesn't he? 😐️

My friend in London paid for the postage at the Royal Mail office hoping it would be sent by Royal Mail. The attendant did not mention any issue as regards to the weight and never mentioned it will be sent with parcel force. Now there is an issue with delivery, the Royal Mail office is saying the package was handed over to parcel force.

The confusion here is that Parcel force is sending us to Royal Mail, but Royal Mail is saying go deal with parcel force.

The confusion is that it isn't clear;
Where the parcel was dropped off
Which service was used

The proof of postage receipt will state precisely what service was used as will the on line tracking information. It will be either a RM or a PF service. The provider of the service shown is the one you have a contract with and the one you need to take it up with as either of them could have passed it on to the other to carry out.

I came to say that too! It shouldn't be Special Delivery so
Royal Mail and Parcelforce work together but have different delivery systems.
Given it's held by Parcelforce they are the only ones you should be enquiring with. I'd try and get through to Hatfield and even look at visiting there, they have an office and opening times. It could be a wasted journey though.
I'd try and find out as much as possible from your friend who sent it in Birmingham. Was the item packed well, was it labelled correctly, etc? The more you know the more Parcelforce may be able to help..0 -
Of course parcels should be tracked throughout their journeys, and the overwhelming majority are, but the point is that things can and do go wrong sometimes, which can be caused by any of a whole range of factors, none of which constitutes a scam.

You still sound confused. Your friend went to a POST Office, not a Royal Mail office. And it sounds like they purchased a ParcelForce service.
So ParcelForce and the POST Office. It doesn’t sound like Royal Mail are involved in this at all.
To recap… Post Office is NOT a Royal Mail office!!
