When we took it back to motorpoint the first time the light had gone off but the drove it and it came back on. They didn’t pick up anything on there computers at that time.

Both times it’s been in a vaxhaull the light has been on, I haven’t been told they have drove it on those occasions.

This is why you should never replace a single tyre after so long. 3 m/m difference on front tyres is going to throw sensor out.

I bet you have indirect TPMS (does not give you a pressure for each wheel) as such the sensor is reading one tyre is low on pressure, compared to the other front tyre. As it measures wheel rotation speed.

thank you, I’m assuming this was done before motor point had it, or maybe they did it themselves?! Who knows. We will be getting it changed to rule it out. I could kick myself for not just doing it but the worry of it being something else stopped us in our tracks.
we had asked the first Vaxhaull garage to do it but they didn’t have a tyre to fit , hence why we went to Kwik fit.

If the tyre tread depth differences are the cause of the problem, it really doesn't make much sense does it. Both tyres are legal, and this sort of thing must happen all the time with punctures etc. Over time most vehicles get the tyres out of 'sync' regarding equal wear due to punctures etc. would it be worth temporarily swapping one of the rear wheels/tyres on to the front (if the tread depth is a closer match) and see if that cures the issue.

Edit - just seen your tyres wear record in photo, maybe swap both fronts with rears then you would have equal tread on front wheels.

Hope you get the issue sorted

I’ll ask to see if that’s something that can be done to test! Thank you

May still throw up this warning even if its on the rear, but you never know.

“spare wheel fitted, driver aids disabled".

Would the garage (is it a main dealer) have a similar vehicle with same wheels and tyres so that they could temporarily borrow a wheel with matching treads to see if the issue disappears.

A quick google suggests that “spare wheel fitted, driver aids disabled" is yet another Stellantis "Thing", several people have posted about it on the Peugeot 3008 forum and the Vauxhall Grandland forum.

No-one has a clue why it happens. The posters are understandably annoyed that it happens at random on long trips and disables cruise control.

There are helpful suggestions about carefully checking tyre pressures and re-initialising the TPMS but they don't work.

You'd think that if the difference in rotational speed of the wheels is outside the allowed range when the steering wheel is straight that the TPMS would simply declare that there was a flat tyre….

The question is just how the car would know it had a spare wheel fitted.

As I was a bit bored, I looked in the owners handbook, and there is no mention whatsoever of that error message, even in the part about how to fit the spacesaver spare.

I did spot that the car in the circle is "Emergency braking disabled" and it will disable if a front seatbelt isn't fastened as well as if the camera is obscured.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Have any of the garages driven the car with their diagnostics attached? Seems like an easy solution if they have
all the facts like the data from the speed sesnors at each wheel whilst actually driving.

Have you actually checked in the boot to see if there is a spare there.

There could be some sort of sensor there that’s picking something up - for example, the spare might not be seated properly

Well, yes, asking the car might be the easy solution…
