Sky Broadband March increase

I hope you didn't actually cancel your broadband, and instead told them that you're switching because of the price rise.
Because cancelling is very very bad.1 -
Nope, told them I was cancelling. Why is that a very very bad thing? I don't want to pay their rise, so I cancel it - I don't see what is bad about that?

Because it can leave you without BB for awhile, you usually use the switch option so it's seamless although I see you're thinking of getting a 5G service so that wouldn't actually work in your case anyway (pretty sure it wouldn't anyway).
You say your Sky BB is turning off today, how did you not get hit with a 31 day cancellation period?

I genuinely don't know why it was not 31 days. I cancelled it on 19th Feb 2026 and that is when she said it would finish. I recieved an email confirming the 5th cancellation date. It is odd, because the bill date is normally 11th.
I've now checked and can see that it has been cancelled. They say that I will still pay £25 on 11th March, but then the future bill in April shows a credit of £30.36 which seems to be £25 credit and £5.36 for 5 days credit. I am surprised I never received any offer at all to stay with them but, fair enough, they are not that bothered about having me as a customer.
I went with Three home broadband and got it on Tuesday. In the end it was £15 a month rising to £18 a month in 2027 with a £68 cashback making it £13.66 a month in all. It's working absolutely fine, I just set the modem to IP Passthrough, removed the cable from sky to my router with the cable from the Three modem and it worked immediately without any further configuration. I am quite close to the 5G mast so the speeds are similar to Sky but defintiely a bit slower. I get about 1.1Gbps sometimes but most of the time about 800Mbps and never had a speed test lower than 580Mbps. I quite like that I can put the modem anywhere in the house and have found a very hidden away place.

Had email confirmation of price increases yesterday. used chat service to speak to retension team today and got a new deal of £23 per month with no april 2026 price increase and the normal one in april 2027. happy with that as it matched the plusnet offer
even got the admin fee waived which is normally hard to do
so quite a good simple process with sky for once

You did well there.

Cancelled SKY Q this morning, only have TV, still 15 months of contract left, no offer to stay other than saving me a £1 but then a £10 admin fee for agreeing a new contact. Cancelled, had they waiver the £10 admin fee I would have stayed but that’s just SKY being greedy!
