I really need to get back into this properly again as maternity leave is looming in 9 weeks, and we are also spending a lot decorating the whole upstairs of the house, so i need to save something somewhere.
savings for January:- 5.10 - discount on prescription cat food online using money off code
- 77.00 - made a phonecall to swap my union subscription to a union one, and that is for the whole year, but if i move it into savings in one go now it can move across to pay the direct debit throughout the year and earn me some interest at the same time
- 40.00 - sale reduction on the mclaren double buggy i need
- 60.00 - had some mothercare vouchers which were used to pay for the buggy, saving me spending this in cash - had the vouchers for at least 6 months and was saving them for something really useful
- 1.84 - savings on supermarket shopping this month
- 10.42 - profit after selling on amazon
so a pretty impressive start to the year for me, and lets hope i can continue doing well.0 -

Went out yesterday shopping for clothes (for me). I know many women thoroughly enjoy these expeditions, but I don't - I hate it with a passion!
Got some great bargains (which I'll post later) to kick start my January PMS with. Most of it is *virtual* though. I do save for clothing as part of our regular budget, but it's a rolling budget expense. I tend to buy clothes in the sales anyway (or charity shops) but I do like to keep a record of how much the items were costing others before the sale price and how much I saved by biding my time.
Did get a little bonus - thank you Boots! - because of an issue that arose (won't bore you), but I now have a £10 gift card = £10 PMS
Michelle - that's a great start to the year; savingpennies congrats on your windfall. Well done :T~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

First post ever, hope I put it in the right place!
Made some soup yesterday for lunches, cost for vegetables £3 plus store cupboard ingredients; made 16 portions. I have soup for lunch every day at work and am therefore not buying the soup so saving either £7.40 or £11.72!! Which could work out over the year at over £100!
This is really scary and hopefully by telling you all about it will stop me from buying soup in cans again!Lightbulb moment - August, 2006

Welcome DFW74 and ... very well done, you!!! :T At just over .18p a portion, that soup is a real bargain
Yes, it does look scary when you rewrite those numbers and see just how vast that saving works out ... but, hey, what a wonderful BONUS boost to your income/savings account

Went to buy compost for my potato sacks and veg seeds and found some on offer so saving 1.97. Then went to buy DD1 some lined paper for her coursework and found that on 3 for 2 so saving 1.99. My savings are nicely mounting up. Got a small pile of coupons as well but can only use them in my local Asda so will have to wait to spend them.Books - the original virtual reality.
