Delivery of a newly purchased car.
Hi there all
I have recently purchased a 2nd hand car from a dealer in London. I paid £200 to have it delivered which i was satisfied with.
However, when they turned up, they had driven it down to me. I live in Hastings..a good 60 miles away. When I checked the mileage from the point of sale there is 104 miles difference. Now, I'm not happy with the car for various reasons.. but this has really annoyed me.
The delivery man even asked us which direction was the nearest train station was to go back!. Surely this isn't right…. I feel conned. Am I justified?

Unless you specifically paid for transporter delivery, driving the car to you is standard practice. Directions to the station for the delivery driver is just human interaction.
What are the reasons you are not happy with the car and why weren't these concerns apparent in the test drive?
What due diligence did you do prior to purchasing?

Well I guess they could have loaded it onto a barge and floated it down the Thames and around the coast to East Sussex?
Probably driving it down was a little more practical.

I paid £200 for it to transported to me. I test drove it and there were not any concerns. Later on I drove the car to my garage for a proper check and a long list of problems (Rust, Corrosion etc) also on way to the garage the engine light and ABS light came on.

A friend of mine delivers cars this way every day.
He has a fold up monkey bike in the boot.
Or hitchhiking back, holding out red trade plates gets quicker rides.

Oh Ok, and its reasonable to charge £200 for that?

To be honest you're not coming across well

Yes.

No idea what you paid for this motor but just maybe having the inspection done before you bought it might have been a tad cleverer.

@Glenw00d you first said "delivered" and then "transported" so do you have it in writing or by email that it would come on a transporter and not delivered by a driver?
How old is the banger that you've purchased?
What fault is being indicated by the check engine light?
If it was a totally remote purchase you may be able to return it for a full refund but you may get pushback from the guys with cowboy hats.1
