Why Do Ebay Sellers Tell Outright Lies ?

Purchased an item, loads available, chose this one because the listing shows RM T48 with delivery Friday which would be a reasonable expectation as we need it fairly quickly. Item now marked as despatched and tracking provided ……. but with Evri so who knows when we will actually receive it 🤬

WAs it a business seller or a private seller as if it was private then seller has to use the label provided by eBay, and parcel size items always seem to be via Evri, unless the buyer opens the postage tab and opts for a dearer RM option.

Business, just under 200K items sold. They list T48, T24 & DPD next day as options. No mention of "other courier".

Was there a postage charge? What has the seller said?

To be honest I've found evri pretty reliable, tracked 48 often being overly optimistic.

Yes, £2.50 potage. In my experience T48 will generally take 2 days, over the past couple of weeks we have had parcels posted Monday delivered Wednesday N Scotland to SE England and other way. Evri on the other hand generally take 5 to 6 days, even had one posted in my town taking 8 days.

It depends where it gets in the system with Evri. If it goes to a shop then it can take several days. In my experience, if they're collecting then delivery is fairly quick.

There can be loads of reasons why someone would change courier and it's probably not down to being a liar. Updating postage on listings can be a bit of a pain (not saying it shouldn't be done). My RM T48s (business account) have just had a price bump and I'm guessing others will have had similar so they're probably juggling costs.

We bought some car mats off a business, they said there was none in stock but they can make some up. They then said do I mind waiting a week, and I said no. But, they instantly marked it as dispatched when it's obvious they hadn't even started making them! They probably do it to fiddle the order/dispatch times if any such data makes them look any better. Or maybe they just do it right away so they don't forget to mark as dispatched later on

It will likely be related to metrics. Technically none of my orders are despatched when my customers are notified they have been. I have to print off the post labels before I despatch. Occasionally they don't get sent until the following day, the delivery time will be the same though.

The problem is the estimated delivery date will come sooner, so the buyer can report INR sooner and ebay may end up issuing a refund while the item is in transit.

Ordered 2 items from different sellers same day, sellers were deliberately chosen because of RM T48. The one that did send RM arrived yesterday, the Evri one is at delivery depot which unfortunately is around 120 miles away so will go to courier on Monday to likely be delivered Tuesday.

Have you contacted the seller to query this? And what is the delivery window?
