Octopus Go Intelligent Tariff - recent changes

You say it's simple, MattMattMattUK, but it seems from other people on this thread that we don't all find it so. I guess we are not all equally intelligent.

Precisely what my friend experienced.

Isn't it a bit poor that they will make a change to the tariff before they have thought through 100% how it will work and, more to the point, communicated the full ramifications of the change to their customers?

No.
Just use it with the current rules and then adapt to the new rules if or when they come into force.
It's a tariff you can leave whenever you want if you are no longer happy with it.

The changes as listed in Octopus blog were also sent out in a email IOG users received about the changes. 👍
But people do need to read what they are getting, when they sign up.

There are around 160k customers on IOG, the fact that a handful who have popped up on here do not understand it does not evidence anything.

I suspect that's why the change implementation has been delayed.

Just as a general comment, there is no change to the tariff, the 6 hour limit has been in the T&Cs from the start, the only change is that they intend to actually enforce it at some point soon…

The people who will lose out are those on granny chargers who cannot charge fully in 6 hours.
Also, I'm sure I've read that octopus will have an option to stop charging at 6 hours, even if charge set points not reached.

There shouldn't be anyone on IOG using a granny charger, since they're not generally compatible with IOG. Those folk will be on regular Go.
(I know that Ohme did make a plugin smart charger; I don't know if that's acceptable to IOG or no, but even if it is there surely can't be many customers using those?)
