Same parking problem.

Not when every lamppost provides two chargers.

I think the point was that it will be 60p/kWh instead of 6p plugged into your own domestic supply

Lamppost chargers are generally 3.5kW. That's more like 35p/kWh. It's still more than home charging, but it at least gives a viable alternative to £1300 to place a channel in the pavement.

How many lamp posts do you have down your street?
For a 30mph limit, they have to be not more than 200yds apart.

In practice they're usually much closer together than that, especially in the sort of high density inner city streets where this is likely to be an issued.
Just checked and the road my car is currently parked on is 400m long and has 26 street lights - so something like 16m apart (staggered on each side of the street). But that won't equate to 52 potential charging spaces as the lights don't correspond to parking bays (e.g. too close to junctions or driveways).

That will depend when you need to plug in.
you need yo plug in but can't get that parking space for 5 days? Falls within 10 days but not much help.

Iive in a cul de sac with 12 houses opposite a block of 12 flats.
It is musical cars sometimes getting parked. one our and one in.
There a 4 lamp posts. one lamp post has a disabled space beside it on one side and on the other side a dropped kerb, so wouldn't be a lot of use.

1/4 mile cul de sac & 7 lamp posts here,
Some runs of terraced houses, such as this are very sparce (3)
My point was if you have as much chance of getting parked next to your own gully, as you do a lamp post.

The big problem with all of these ideas is the use of the word 'might'. I would want a better chance than 'might' of finding a park space beside a charge point. Off-road parking on your own property guarantees you a charge point. Street parking doesnt, won't and probably never will. Electric vehicles aren't fit for purpose unless you have a guaranteed charge point.
