Confusion about parking in a disabled parking bay?

Well of course. It's obvious that a plain disabled bay outside somebody's house doesn't mean it's dedicated for that resident's use only just because it's outside their house.
But if the signage does suggest the disabled bay's use is restricted then that is a different matter - and that is what I was trying to convey to the OP as opposed to the view that anyone with a BB can park in any disabled bay

We're possibly at cross purposes - I was more pointing out that if the bay doesn't have a sign on a pole at all, then it's not even enforceable as a blue badge space.

Ah.
Well I understood The OP to be asking if a signed disabled bay could be parked in by anybody with a BB and that most people had answered yes.
I was trying to point out that it might not be that simple and that if the sign had restrictions on it then they might be effective in restricting the use of the bay to certain BB (or permit) holders.
Without seeing a photo of the sign and knowing which LA it's impossible to say for sure

Assuming that is the standard "disabled only" signage against the wall behind the car, then that is a disabled bay only allowed to be parked in by blue badge holders but not restricted to any one individual or sub-set. The standard rules about the disabled person needing to be involved in the journey still apply.
If the signage states and further constraints then these also apply. I can't see any other such constraints states but the sign is partly obscured in the photo by the car.
Regardless, the car in the photo (and the black car in front) both seem to have contravened "parking with one or more wheels on a pavement or grass verge"

looks like thats a sign in the houses front window - probably not official/enforceable
parking on the pavement - depends where the picture is taken
as for the "box" looks like a DIY job personally

Yes, looks quite amateurish all round, and no compliant signage as far as we can tell - so I doubt it's enforceable against anyone.

Hmmm @LightFlare has picked up some pecularities in the photo that were not immediately obvious.
Another discrepancy, I certainly think around here the road painted text would be outside and not inside the designated bay.
Although, and this is not correct, the risk of parking outside the house of an individual that will paint their own bay and sign trying to reserve a space, and shouting at people who do park their regardless of disability status, means the potential for returning to a damaged car is probably greater than it is worth taking.

I agree with you. That doesn't look anything like a genuine disabled parking bay!!!
The sign appears to be inside somebody's front window rather than on a pole, and the typeface of "Disabled" on the carriageway does not look right.
If I lived on that road I think I'd be complaining to the council. Either it's a bogus disabled bay or, if it's genuine, it needs to be properly sgned.
Would have saved a lot of time and trouble if the OP had posted the photo in the first place…
[Edit: It also looks far too well maintained to be genuine!]
