You are still taking the risk that the bonus will not be paid, and you won’t find this out until after maturity. Tembo have your NI number from your ISA account, and you have to give it to them when applying for a new account. So it will be easy for them to work out that you aren’t a new customer, even if they don’t make this check at the time of setting up an account. I won’t risk myself to get just 3%, but good luck to you if you are more daring than me.

Nationwide worked for me for a one off payment, after problems with NatWest.
No problem with NatWest for a DD as far as I can tell, although they don’t show the mandates in the list until the first payment is taken.0 -
Re Tembo RS - Both HSBC and Lloyds worked for me, but I decided not to use HSBC because (as posted) I couldn't get the security code to work (a me issue, because others have said it worked for them).

Even riskier is mentioning it on a public forum where people working for Tembo may well be able to see it, I tend to keep these sorts of cards closer to my chest these days.

I assume you are talking about the RS @8%. Fund today if possible. As long as you have everything set up you can do a £250 deposit today directly from your nominated account. Then set up the direct debit for £250 monthly payments starting at the beginning of November. Then you have £500 earning 8% at the start of November.

I did exactly that though was unsure if the DD would be set up in time for 1 Nov so picked a later date. Is it a quicker setup process for Tembo? If so, i will change it back to 1 Nov

Mrs Bobble and I opened and funded ours (cash in branch) on 16th Jan, so expect letters/emails next week.
As to the extra 11th payment, we've got SOs set up for it, but for the extra ~38p the 11th payment generates, we're not overly bothered if they return it …. although we don't expect that to happen.

Wit the DD, check in the app that it will come out from November. I've just set one up and it won't start until December if I select a date up to and including 8th.
To get a collection in November the earliest I could set it for was the 9th.

Tembo
- Planning on opening tomorrow 28th Oct and fund via open banking and fund again 2nd November —> Does it work as it seems like it takes time for funds to be credited?
- Is it mandatory to set up a DD? —> Planning on funding manually each month
- Plan is to reduce balance to £1 on 29th Oct 2027 (Friday) to stick somewhere better than 3% or whatever the variable rate is going to be.

That's odd! I applied Sat 24th and funded it 24th. I also set up the DD on Saturday for the 1st Nov and the system allowed it but reported it would be taken on 2nd. Showing as "will be collected on the 2nd Nov" in the app today too. It will be interesting to see what day it reports as credited to the account!
