Principality Christmas 2027
I have bucked the trend and opened, several reasons - 1stly it now means that I have enough regular savers maturing in October 2027 to cover the November 2027 SOs.
But If the need arises in the meantime and funds run low I can just close the account to access the funds and maybe reopen the next month - OH has a Principality Christmas 2026 that does not close until February, I think it was a maturity option - so the 2026 version was available for a few months.
At the moment it still seems that there are more accounts reaching maturity with no suitable options other than easy savers so even one at 5.25% is better than nothing - and it is marginally better than my easy access.
It also means that I keep continuity with Principality incase of a loyalty account some distant time in the future. - my last Christmas 2026 account matures very early in December - again I think it was a maturity option.
West Bromwich winter ready - email regarding maturity options this morning - I already have the regular saver 8 which was opened just to keep continuity even though its just 5% and no access until maturity.
How often do West Bromwich offer new regular saver issues?

I was just reading that email, makes me laugh, I can imagine the meetings they must have to come up with these convoluted Terms and Conditions! "To keep a [terrible] rate of 2.10% you’ll need to pay in £20 or more per month…. If you miss more than two monthly payments your rate will drop to 1.40%"

Next BoE MPC is 5th November, if rates go up wonder if we can expect some better RS offerings. My Principality Christmas RS maturity is just after, so let's hope so.

Yes, very mean.
I do like WBBS, though. Instead of having the likes of a Christmas RS encouraging folk to save for festive frivolities, they do a "Winter Ready" RS for the likes of fuel biills and buying hot water bottles, Very austere. I like it.

West Brom Winter
In my understanding it will be 3rd November. Request withdrawal online on 1st Nov, they will process it on 2nd and money will arrive on 3rd.

No from me too! I had words with them over the phone about a different issue, so no going back. 😤

Principality Christmas 2027
I opened it without a 2nd thought. Takes 2 minutes to open, the rate is above my 5% EAs, no ties or complicated rules. If EA rates increase to above 5.25% I will simply close this RS. I have more than enough Principality accounts for continuity so the closure won't have any detrimental effect.

West Brom
Worse, because the rate drops if you don't pay in (which is what I decided to do last time round) they start sending you letters if you miss a payment, initially reminding you to make the payment or have a lower rate of interest, and then did you know you're on a lower interest rate.
Probably spending more on letters and postage than they are on paying interest.

Agree.
Playing the RS game seriously means (in my view) taking advantage of RS's paying more than EA rates, provided that the terms allow early closure without penalty. At the moment the best EA offering genuinely unrestricted access with no balance limit is around 4.52% (Cahoot Simple Saver), which is roughly 0.75% less the PBS Xmas 2027 RS rate. Yes, there are restricted balance EA's at higher than 4.52% and I take advantage of all of these first.
Some may say the difference is too small to be worth the effort. That is a personal decision. However PBS RS's are very easy to open, fund and close.

I was going to bin my EA in favour of this higher paying maturity account until I realised that 2.1% had strings attached.
I do like the Winter Ready concept though - a (crosses fingers) eventual replacement will need a higher deposit limit given what happened to fuel prices a month after it launched. Hope I won’t be excluded for not being near a branch though.
