One might almost think that perhaps they are trying to incentivise their customers to make more use of the app?

Think you are being a little over-dramatic ("Absolutely insane"). Don't like the proffer then don't use the bank.

Edit: My research suggests if I had simply done the payment out from the regular saver to my 'nominated account' which I would have given at account opening the payment would have gone through as an established pathway. Transferring it first to the current account 'open' environment meant the security restrictions were enforced.

I'm not sure that is correct - the £500/£1000 limit seems to be based on your customer profile, not per account. If I set up a new payee from my Virgin current account I don't get asked to authenticate it, unless the payment is for more than £500. AIUI the 'nominated account' only makes a difference if you don't have a VM current account.

    Virgin RS

I renewed mine in March this year, I’m presume that mine matures 12 months from then and not today as I see no changes in my app to my current RS sat on £1750 (e.g no interest applied)….

Thankyou. I've got Principality and Virgin matured as well so I'll do it now.

    Thanks again.

The £500/£1000 limit depends on how you access your online account. It applies if you are sent a text security code for verification purposes.

If you have their security token or are verified via their app, then the limit is £30k per transaction and per day.

Edit: To clarify, if you have registered a security token or app, you will be forced to verify your login through that and will not be sent a text. Text verification only applies to those without an app or security token registered.

    Bank Holiday Monday

With Monday being a BH, will I need to top up my Santander from Zopa on Sunday to fund SOs going out on Tuesday, or will I be safe to do the transfer on Monday?

I thought I'd already put in an instruction to close the account today, but double checking that didn't appear to have been on their system, so I just went in and went through the process to close the account. For some reason it dumped me out of the system at the end of the process, and wouldn't let me log back in. I phoned and they confirmed the account is now closed. Because it was the only account I held with them, it won't let me log back in, and they don't send out certificates of interest apparently……. so make sure you take note of what you've received and when. There was that payment of interest at 31st December which will be in the last tax year.

Money should be received by 6pm today.

Don't worry, earlier in the week it did the same to me when I closed my account and it was my only account as well. Funds were in my nominated account in the afternoon of the same day.

I'm just going to let mine mature into an EA and shift the bulk out to fund RSs etc on Tuesday and after … does the job of automatically creating an EA instead of me doing it manually prior to maturity.
