I wonder where Halifax customers stand with this one given the merger… any thoughts?

strangely for a dying brand, Halifax will also have a new 8% issue of their RS tomorrow - though if you already have a RS with Halifax, I don't think you can open this new issue.

This looks like a lesson against speculative opening. 5.5% fixed with £25 in 😭

Though should Halifax only customers not soon be able to secure the Lloyds one, given the communication to say they will be migrated?

    New 8% Halifax Monthly Saver

Would it not be possible to close the existing RS and re-open. I have done this in the past when I needed to re-align maturity dates and will be attempting to do so again tomorrow when this new RS goes live.

PS (!) Thanks for making us aware of this. 😎

noting the t&c’s for the existing accounts, the Lloyds RS say “they are for savers who haven’t opened a Lloyds RS in the last 12 months”… no such stipulation with the existing Halifax RS

I notice that this account can be 'renewed' - alternative to close/re-open?

    Lloyds groups 8% savers.

I think I’m right in saying BOS don’t allow you to close and reopen with 12 months, frustrating as I only opened last week again.

Lloyds - it is now one or other 250 RS or 400 club, not both, but should be able to close both and open new Club RS.

Halifax - should be able to refresh into new 8%.

It would seem unfair to offer 8% to new RS savers while letting existing savers languish on the lower rate(s) until their anniversary date(s) [except Halifax]

Before rushing to renew a Club Lloyds MS and a Lloyds MS, remember that you can now only have open one of these at a time, not both.

I am going to wait to see the terms of the new accounts before rushing to do anything.
