Thank You posts
I was being whimsical when I suggested that "thank you" posts might better be (sometimes) dealt with by other means. Apologies if the whimsicality wasn't obvious. I agree that generally speaking there should be as few rules as possible, and that people are entitled to post what they like, so long as it is somehow related to RS's (currently available or not) or related to earlier posts discussing some aspect of RS's. As others have said, I dislike reading posts complaining about the relevancy of other posts. If you think a post is irrelevant, just ignore it. Others may find it helpful or relevant to their circumstances. Live and let live.
Just on the "thank you" theme…. I think "thanks" are best dealt with by using the thanks button, or by sending a private message where you think this is appropriate (for example, following a detailed/helpful response from someone to a query/point which you yourself have raised). However there are cases where a poster is developing the conversation (for example, by adding more information or detailing their experience) but also wants to thank a previous poster for their contribution. In such circumstances, starting their post by expressing thanks to the previous poster is perfectly sensible.

Well, I'm going to ask something about another NLA account…
Buckinghamshire BS regular saver
Still haven't made my first deposit, having read about everyone's Natwest-funding issues. Changed my nominated account to my Lloyds current account to be on the safe side, and it still says "Status: Awaiting approval". Do you reckon it's okay to fund it now, or do I have to wait until my nominated account has been approved?

Buckinghamshire RS ResponseYou’re safe to make a deposit…..my nominated account said this for quite a while but it didn’t affect deposits. Incidentally, they aren’t the quickest for deposits showing but once there the posting date seems to be when you sent it (not sure about weekends).

It's OK to fund. I only got a message saying my nominated account was approved several days after funding, so I don't think they put resources into checking/approving it until the account is fully open (minimum balance reached.)

Massive non new regular saver discussions of the past days
Personally feel the set up works great as is. I visit it from bookmarks anyway so wouldn’t necessarily see half the stuff added in a new subforum.
Echo the comments from others about scrolling past stuff you’re not interested in. Personally I’m not interested in all this administrative chit chat about who should and shouldn’t thank others and who should title what in what way etc., but it can be scrolled past.
As I think it has kind of been established that the system works as is, hopefully we can make a return to business as normal to discuss old, new and upcoming regular savers 🤞🏼If you want me to definitely see your reply, please tag me @forumuser7 Thank you.
N.B. (Amended from Forum Rules): You must investigate, and check several times, before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my content, as nothing I post is advice, rather it is personal opinion and is solely for discussion purposes. I research before my posts, and I never intend to share anything that is misleading, misinforming, or out of date, but don't rely on everything you read. Some of the information changes quickly, is my own opinion or may be incorrect. Verify anything you read before acting on it to protect yourself because you are responsible for any action you consequently make... DYOR, YMMV etc.3 -
Look on the bright side - in the not too distant future your favourite AI agent will monitor the thread(s), remove anything deemed irrelevant to you and reformat posts into your preferred format, sparing us all the inconvenience of having to scroll past things ourselves.

First and last comment on this.
I really cannot for the life of me see that it is a burden it is to scroll down a page or two.
Takes 10 or 20 seconds.

Also for me, I can't see the necessity to be "oh so very helpful and make suggested alterations" to something that is so great and helpful. The thread ain't broken in any way and therefore no fix required. For me its been a right pain to scroll through the last lot of discussion pages. With grateful thank you to Bridlington, shall we just continue with the regular saver thread now please?

There was a great thread that ran for 19 years from 2004-23 on MSE regarding discount codes for Healthspan. Someone decided there should be no chat because they didn't want notifications when people confirmed codes were still actively working (which was actually useful information). The new thread is practically dead. Maybe one or two posts a month. Please don't make this thread go the same way.
