very tempting given the rudeness of the manager that replied and the cheek to say a goodwill of "4.5% of 9p" which is less than 1p. They'd have been better off giving nothing as goodwill or just a £10-20

Less than half a pence even if that 9p was there for the whole year, which it obviously won’t be and nor should it have been, because interest should have first been paid on August 31st. Where does this 4.5% come from, it bears no relation to the account interest rate or even the rate HMRC pays to taxpayers it owes money to.
No email here. They’re really not interested in making it right if they’re only making payments to the people who contacted them to complain.

Hanley smart saver
No email received here either. And no extra interest.
Did anyone (who didn't complain) receive the email?

I didn't complain (never occurred to do so or interested in making one now) and, as posted above, I received the email - I assumed it was sent to everyone affected.
ideally, I would have preferred this additional interest to have been paid at maturity with the rest of the interest, but I can't get worked up over 9p being paid this year or the lack of notice given.

I see all that.
It is, however, a bit rubbish that the Terms of the account were breached, that Hanley tried to make good and yet only communicated (so far) to a subset of the account holders.
Its a good job it's only a few pence.

I am still in the process of a complaint regarding the invalid / retrospective "notice" of the interest rate changes. So they've had at least three from members on here at least!

I complained as well and received the email
