Octopus Fixed Tariffs 2026

The price of volatility and uncertainty unfortunately.

Yet others feel able not to charge exit fees for change of tariff only for change of supplier.

You'd think the govt would jump on exit fees in the interest of cost of living

It is a risk decision, if people can find cheaper tariffs with no exit fees from a supplier they like then they should of course go there instead of Octopus, switching is easy these days…

Nobody is forced to accept a fix with exit fees, hedging to support fixed tariffs has a cost and it is up to the supplier how they manage the risks involved, and if consumers want to avoid exit fees then pick one of the suppliers that suits their needs.

…and they're annoying!

I've no issue with exit fees, but from Octopus it's all just very hypocritical given their previous, very vocal stance on them.

The things you can do as a rapidly growing plucky disruptor in the market place will change when you become the #1 domestic energy supplier in a very uncertain market…
They can't expect to grow customer base to cover those ditching a fix early any more, and I suspect that the cost/risk of hedging over the next 12 months is more than a little prohibitive when all it takes is ending a couple of wars to cause a significant fall in energy prices…

Octopus lobbied Ofgem for exit fees to be banned, had that happened Octopus would not have been able to charge exit fees what ever the circumstances.
