Anyone else feel they might have been 'mis-sold' EU Roaming by EE?

I just looked at the EE website and their "free" EU roaming is "unusual" to say the least.
Going for SIM-only, which is how I operate my mobile, the "unlimited minutes, texts & data" package is £23 per month. The "unlimited minutes, texts & data with no-charge roaming in EU" is £33 per month so seemingly there is a charge for the EU roaming but "no-charge" as it is thrown into a bundle.
That £10 per month is £120 per year so I wonder what roaming costs people would accrue if they had a couple of weeks in the sub once a year and were mindful of their usage while on holiday?
I will stick with my current provider, which is cheaper for two phones than the EE price for one and I also get EU roaming included. My service is not "unlimited" but more than we ever use.

I think EE EU roaming depends on when you took out your contract, older ones include it, newer ones not necessarily so.
I have compared 1p Mobile with EE in a side by side data speed check and could find no difference. I have only tried it in the back garden and obtained around 250 Mb/s download on both phones (5G in both cases). I haven't compared them in other locations, but have no particular issues with 1p

Many thanks for info , I could always try 1p and have 14 days cooling off if it really isn't for me. Much appreciated the info

I'm just looking at 1p unlimited monthly and it says EU Roaming included , and then in the detail it says 14gb cap on that (or it does how I read it), so if you used maps, download a few things and got to 14gig - over what timescale does that renew , any idea? And then how much does an 'add on ' cost after the 14gig? Other than those little details, it looks great, especially the month at a time contract
EDIT - just had a closer look at the 'unlimited data per month' plans and in particular the fair use policy- anything above 500gig is considered going beyond fair use.

TBF - 14 GB (abroad) or 500 GB (home fair use) is a lot of data.
FWIW, I am on a 12GB per month contract with Tesco Mobile and never reach the data limit. I never think about my data use an just do whatever I want to do. I don't think I'd get near unless I started to stream a load of video.
Who goes on holiday to then start streaming Netflix? Could just as easily stay at home and do that.

I have hit data limits in the past just using maps while touring round on holiday for a few weeks, and it was a proper pain to be on the edge of the next chunk of data I bought too, so from then on I went unlimited after that , and when touring abroad the hotel booking apps and train time tables and reservations use a fair bit.
I cant say I have ever felt tempted to watch Netflix anywhere but my living room of an evening

I'm with 1p as well. Lovely clear site, response to emails, very straightforward.
But I did notice when I joined that on PAYG there was a limit on countries. Possibly not if you buy a bundle but easy to check.
No pushing, clear information, responsive. I believe they use the EE network.

I think the 'regular' EU countries are all in

For overseas maps, check Organic Maps. It is an iPhone app, not sure about Android. You pre-download the maps you want, it then uses no data at all. In some places such as the Costa Blanca (Torrevieja), it even shows villa pool outlines, the detail varies by area but some are really good.
It is free…

Mon you know you can download Google maps and use them offline?
Think you can do it with some others that are well known. I don't do it, still use paper maps but they are always saying it on that well known travel site forums.
Tried looking but Google has swamped the searches.
