Not everyone lives in urban areas and just as for broadband provision, if you are in a rural area service provision can be very poor.

In a remote property with an aging electricity infrastructure, the mains fuse to each property could be below what is now considered standard so requests for higher output 7kw chargers may well be turned down.

No. My daughter’s friend who is a single mum receiving benefits had solar panels, whole house insulation and a heat pump fitted at no cost to her under a government scheme.

Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kWwest facing panels , 3.6 kWeast facing), Solis inverters installed 2018, 5kW SSE facing system (shaded in afternoon) added in 2025 with Tesla PW3 battery, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted A2A Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner.

cheap when someone else is paying for it - that’s the main flaw in all of these subsidised/grant based initiatives

One friend, had heat pumps put in but they would not put in the cladding. His costs are extortionate and their cold.

    "

If the house was poorly insulated after the heat pumps were installed, one has to assume that the house was poorly insulated prior to the heat pumps being installed so the same inefficiencies would have affected whatever type of heating they had prior to the heat pumps.

A heat pump, properly installed, will have roughly the same running cost as an oil boiler.

Charge an EV at home, 2p per mile vs 20p per mile and an ICE vehicle average. Heat pump is the same or cheaper than other alternative options for domestic fuel (unless you have many acres of woodland and so a free supply of wood). Solar is an option for nearly anyone who owns their own house (obviously it does not work for flats). This seems to be a problem with either a lack of understanding or with not owning the property in question.

You have supplied no information as to why and of the suggested options will not work for you?

You do not say why you cannot charge and EV at home for starters. The other issues seem to be related to you not being a homeowner, if you want to install home improvements you need to be a homeowner and pay for them, short term cost for long term gain.

you could fit your own wall charger or use a 2kW granny charger - if can park car suitably.

    far cheaper than charging publically.
