For me the new fund trading fee is virtually entirely offset by the reduction in account charge.

However I think I am at the stage where I need to be looking at switching to a fixed fee rather than a percentage.

This looks bad for junior SIPP/ISAs as the contributions are generally quite low. For a sipp buying one fund will now cost 2×£1.95 per month. On the minium £25 regular monthly investment thats a huge amount!

Edit: "its still free to buy funds through monthly regular investing".

So the above doesnt apply if you invest this way and you are actually better off.

Regular monthly investing by direct debit into my SIPP is still free,  so the reduced account charges will be a benefit to me.

The linked changes page suggests "If you're an HL client you'll have received an email with a summary of the changes" and apparently "Better value. Most clients will pay less, or about the same as before."
Has anyone here seen such an email?

    Not me

    Email just received.

My interpretation is that if you hold shares/ETFs/bonds in your LISA the cap remains at £45/year, am I right?

Is this not effected by the new fund dealing charges? If not I'm actually quite a bit better off.

Edit: I just looked it up. You are right regular investing is still free! Thats saves the hassle of switching!

I have approx 50k shares in a HL fund & share account, with zero charges. I don’t trade, Im just holding them long term. New charges will cost £150 p.a. Any suggestions for an alternative free or low cost home for my shares? Thanks

This is the nudge I needed to move my modest SIPP from HL to ii, where my monthly fees will be about half of HL.

Setting up the ii account was a breeze, as was requesting the transfer. I haven't done any deep dive into the ii website or app yet but first impression are positive.

NB. ii have a transfer offer until end of the month; also £100 via TCB - though I am not sure whether these offers  can be stacked. Better deal might be available if you have a friend who refers you.

Can't beat iWeb now Scottish Widows as that's £0 if you don't trade
If there are periodic dividend reinvestments, there would be transaction charges

Some platforms have a flat charge such as £1.50 a time, whereas iWeb is 2 per cent of the reinvested amount, thus either lower or higher depending on size
