Nationwide app biometrics

Having recently switched, I understand that biometrics are available, rather than card reader, but not for a little while.
Anyone know how long before that option will appear on the app?

How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)

I've already set it up, but I don't obviously see the option to do it now.1

It's in settings once you are in app.Sea_Shell said:Having recently switched, I understand that biometrics are available, rather than card reader, but not for a little while.

They do not need to set anything up, it's up to you to do it.Life in the slow lane0 -
I've been using biometrics on Nationwide for a few months, along with NatWest and WhatsApp.
Biometrics are set up on your device. After that, they're used for all apps that require and have been set to accept them.0 -
Can biometrics detect if you're alive or deceased, anyone? I think, as I understand it, it comes down to blood flow. 🤔0

Can't guarantee that it's scientifically accurate, but there was an episode of Silent Witness once where they tried to use a dead person's fingerprint to unlock a phone. It didn't work at first, but I think they did something with an electric current to kid the phone into thinking the person was alive.TimeLord1 said:Can biometrics detect if you're alive or deceased, anyone? Biometrics are on my phone and for logging in to the app.
It's when I go to make a payment, to an existing payee, it's asking for verification via card reader. Fine whilst at home, but who carries one round with them.

The ones implemented on mobile consumer devices? The posher phones make this claim for their face scanners although actual evidence of empirical testing is hard to come by.TimeLord1 said:Can biometrics detect if you're alive or deceased, anyone? My smartwatch detects blood flow and there's a way to use it's proximity to unlock my phone and laptop, not sure if one function is incumbent on the other.

It's telling me this option is not currently available, but is being rolled out (can't do a screenshot)born_again said:

That's why I was asking if anyone knew how long, after opening, this will become available to be enabled?

I also see a show, and in the morgue they warmed the hand and used the fingerprint to open the phone. Interesting that you mentioned using electric current.clairec666 said:

It may be that your account is too new, as this option has been available in the app for a long time.Sea_Shell said:

You do need to set it up separately to the app access controls. Instructions here:
