"So you're at the same stage as me then?"

No, he does this as a business for some companies with fleet cars. I know him personally and he knows what he's doing. However, when I said:

"See whether @Johnersh thinks it's a realistic costs risk to continue to refuse to consent and how to word it reasonably."

…I said that because he is a solicitor. Read Johnersh's reply again. Let's see how QDR proceed in these cases. They have recently discontinued others just like it.

"Perhaps too many failed attempts with incorrect POCs which they have now learned from and are trying to tidy up with a new wave of cash grabs?"

    No.

I've appeared in court* v legally qualified reps for parking firms who use QDR and they don't issue scattergun claims and are somewhat better at litigation and pleadings than some others in this sector, so there is definitely more to this wholesale U turn than simply losing / failing in some cases, believe me.

*I'm not legally qualified but I've never lost!

I've potentially shot myself in the foot with admitting to being the driver then, and I know the law doesn't work on ethics or "feelings", so my argument that I paid, the machine was broken, I left before I needed to, and they didn't write to me from April 2020 - July 2025 won't matter in the black and white "insufficient time paid" ruling as I'm very much aware of others who have (for example) keyed their registration details incorrectly and lost in court despite having paid.

No you are wrong. Everything you've said is a decent defence. In our long experience, most judges would find in your favour if the payment method failed.
