TELLIT01 said:Poor to very poor power output from any battery in cold weather is pretty standard. The normal 12v battery in an ICE car can struggle in cold weather. It's one of the major problems with fully electric cars.
Depends. Still getting 300 miles per 100% charge in my car. Worked out how to keep miles up in colder weather. Pre Heat car, which also warms the battery up.
Lowest Ever 290 Jan 24, highest 314 July 25.
Shame @PNY405 has not been back to answer questions. Otherwise is just a praise & vent.Life in the slow lane0 -
I have a MG S5, and I don’t think unlocking the car does unlock the cable, but I will double check. I’m still working out how it works.Jenni_D said:
Exactly this - my cable (plug) is released as soon as I unlock the car. (MG4) 🤷♀️QrizB said:
I don't know what EV you have but both of ours (one Stellantis, one VW) have stopped the charge & unlocked the charging cable when you unlock the car.GDB2222 said:
Disconnecting takes longer than connecting, as I have to delve into the menu system to unlock the charging cable. Maybe I’m missing something?Jenni_D said:Recharging my EV might take several hours, but in terms of MY time involvement it's less than a minute. Plus I don't need to go out of my way to stand at a tender dispensing flammable liquid - my "filling station" is on my drive.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
The MGS5 is based on the MG4 platform, so I'd expect it to function largely the same. If in doubt I'd suggest joining the MGEVs.com forum - they have a dedicated MGS5 board.

Pedal on left - Stop.0 -
Another thought re. the plug not releasing ... how quickly after unlocking the car are you trying to pull out the charge plug? I have noticed that mine can relock if I don't pull it within about a minute of unlocking the car.Jenni x0

Does it depend on how clever the charger is? I guess it won’t release if the cable is live?I’m currently (no pun intended) using a granny charger. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Actually, it is capable of single pedal driving, although I have switched that off.flaneurs_lobster said:

Is it the standard MG granny charger? If yes then it has enough "smarts" to turn off the feed when the car reports it is full / the chosen charge level has been reached, so unlocking the car should release the plug.GDB2222 said:Does it depend on how clever the charger is? As I mentioned earlier, MGEVs.com is the best place for advice re. the MGS5.
