    She is currently unemployed.
She has the very strong possibility of an ODP job beginning in March. She has said she's available to do part-time waitressing work at a local pub - which is currently closed - during Feb.
She is currently unemployed. And that is what's in the insurance document.

Has she had a P45 form the gastro pub?

She was employed with them and for the employment to have ceased it has to have ceased, otherwise she is still employed, albeit on a part time basis.

My work is closed at the weekend, but I will still be employed by them on Saturday and Sunday.

    I've just asked. The answer was, "What's a P45?"
She last worked there well over a year ago, and has been travelling in between. Since she came back, she registered her availability, but the place is closed for the moment, so she hasn't done a single shift.
I have no concern that 'unemployed' is her correct status. When she passes her test, and is given the car, she'll need to take out her own insurance, so will put down whatever applies at that time, hopefully ODP.

    Steady...
Getting quotes for a new car, to which daughter will be added so I can help teach her to drive - get practice under t'belt.
She's just returned from a year of travelling. Current employment status is part-time waitressing in a local gastropub, which is closed for January. She's just had a chat at the local Hospital and chief surgeon mooted that she's a shoo-in for a place there from the end of March - ODP, the person who hands over the instruments, takes the removed parts, says to patient "There there - see you on the other side...".
For insurance quote purposes right now, is she best 'unemployed' or working as a waitress in a licensed restaurant?
    Ta.
Your latest answer is different to what you opened with.

As she has not worked for the gastro pub in the current tax year then she will be unemployed.

A P45 is what you get when an employment finishes and contains information to pass to a new employer or the Job Centre.

Presumably she told the gastro pub she was no longer available to work before she went off travelling and they would have given her a P45 at that time.

I am not sure why you said her current employment status is part time waitressing when it isn't.

Hopefully it has since been clarified and there is no remaining confusion?

OP just get learner insurance for the moment until she passes her test with you as another driver.  You are trying to second guess what she will be doing next month or in six months.  Keep it simple, the way things are going she won't get a test for +6 months.

I did start off second-and-third-guessing, before logic took over. I think.
Anyhoo, it's a fait accompli - all insured with me as main driver, and wife and daughter 'named'.
    Thanks everyone.

HMM, is that really true, though, you as the man driver?
Given you just purchased a car for your daughter to learn to drive in:

No, but I've just 'bought' the car - a Hyundai i10 - just about as insurance-cheap as you can get.
Bottom line is she will ultimately need a car for her ODP job, as she'll be on call at times.
What you have done appears to be "fronting" and is seriously frowned upon by the insurance industry if uncovered.
It would be far better to have her on a learner policy on the i10.

UNLESS, you sold your family car and replaced it with the i10?
