Can they offer for you to fly out from a different origin airport i.e liverpool to dublin rather than manchester if the manchester flights to dublin are ful?
Be no harm in asking. Although there are more flights per day from MAN than LPL so may result in longer layovers. Or shorter, if lucky.

Update from my end is that I have now requested a refund and booked flights with Virgin Atlantic.

VA currently have a sale on until tomorrow
Now trying to help a mate out with this, just to query the bit in bold. Their website says the sale is only on HOLIDAYS, not flight only. Did you book a full holiday with Virgin just now?

Save up to £300 extra on holidays ‘til Tuesday

The Virgin Atlantic Sale continues, with extra value on holidays until Tuesday. Book now and save up to £300 with code VAHSALE26 at checkout.

Book by Tuesday 13th January, for holidays travelling between 12th January 2026 – 31st December 2026. T&C's apply.

Sorry oly just seen this. I took the opportunity to book a car so counted as flydrive. Flights seemed reasonable though.
  • If they reroute offer is no good because the dates have changed can you decline and get a refund instead?

Airlines cancelling flights are obliged to offer passengers the choice between a refund or rerouting, and OP (and your earlier post) suggested that Aer Lingus are indeed doing that - it's a completely free choice, so even if the rerouting is practically identical, you still have the right to a refund if you prefer.

We have been told to email a dedicated email address for a 'reaccomodation' on an alternate route. These are apparently being dealt with in order of receipt. Please can users say when they emailed this

cccqueries@aerlingus.com email, and when they were provided with a response. I emailed in on 9th Jan, but as of 14th have had no reply.

  • I also emailed on the 9th and have yet to hear anything we are due to fly on the 14th May

    Update:

Initially Aer Lingus offered me two options A. Refund B. Reroute via Dublin.

I reject this and ask for a 3rd option of another airline flying direct, as I and the CAA feel is reasonable request.

Aer Lingus don’t reply so I rebook with Virgin and then request a refund.

today Aer Lingus sent me an email saying my new flights are booked! Via Dublin with a 1 hour connect! Couldn’t write it honestly!

So the usual saying is "Two for the price of one"
For you it is "One for the price of Two"

Will you be able to cancel one and get your money back?

Not sure how you work that out - OP currently has two bookings, both paid for separately, so is 2 for 2 at the moment, and obviously wants to get to 1 for 1 by cancelling the original one for a refund....
