Flying to South America in October - buy now or later?

I personally wouldn’t risk waiting too long. Prices can drop, but they can also just keep creeping up, especially for South America routes.
I’ve had decent luck with Avianca in the past. Sometimes their prices bounce around a bit more than the bigger carriers. Might be worth keeping an eye on them or even calling their avianca phone number to ask about fare changes or holds (I’ve heard they can sometimes give better info than what shows online).
If you see something you’re okay with price-wise now, I’d probably grab it.0 -
There’s also an argument that some of the people who were planning to travel to the Middle East or further into Asia might look to South America instead.

It would have been a mistake to wait as prices have gone up by £160 - however my plans so I'm not going anyway.

Or you can try setting up a google flight alert (you basically get an email alert when the price drops for a specifc destination for a specific timeframe)
