Another busy day done but it was a good one. Littlest didn’t enjoy his first day at all and still seems quite upset and anxious. I hope it’s just settling in nerves and he’ll be okay in a day or two. He informs me that he won’t be going back tomorrow. Sorry buddy, but you are.

Little Miss has her first day of secondary school tomorrow and then that’s us all back to business. It’s been a strange week.

My DD hated school at first. She used to cling to me crying. She got used to it within days once she started making friends.

Oh it’s heartbreaking @Sun_Addict 💔 He was the same last year for the first few weeks and then absolutely loved it. The teacher he has now was the teacher that eldest really struggled with at a similar age. She’s a lovely lady but shouty and quite harsh in her manner which is tough when you’re 5. He’s also moved into a class with older children and the play provision has completely gone so all a bit of a culture shock at the moment.

I have a pretty stressed out little man tonight 😞

ah we've been at this stage. Our daughter at 5 told her teacher she knew how to escape school if she had a bad day. We used to have tears daily for a while but eventually it settled, but it is so hard to persevere with it when you see them so upset. I hope it settles for him soon

Yesterday was a better day. Mr D and I drew on past experience and put as positive a spin on things as we could. Sticker chart with smelly stickers and the promise of a swim/happy meal at the end of the week for going in, plus a little treat at the end of the day meant he went in (unhappy but went in) and thankfully came out happier than the day before. He was much calmer last night and could say a couple of things he’d liked about his day. The relief is immense. Seeing the physical effects of anxiety in your little one is awful. He’d had a restless sleep, tears and tummy ache so we knew he was genuinely stressed.

Little Miss enjoyed her first day of secondary school yesterday thankfully. She had lots to share with us all last night.

It’s been a big week of change and I’ll be glad when we get to the weekend.
