Aw that's great news - now time for the recovery.

I know what you mean about hospitals and the expenses! Christmas 2023 and 2024 my Mum was in and out and the money I spent! Sheesh it makes me shiver at the thought.

Just catching up on about a week of posts, and what a week that's been for you and your family. Lots of 'get well soon' wishes from me for your Mum, and 'back to normal plus a well deserved rest' wishes for you. It can be so hard having to be away from home and family, though I know your Mum will have been grateful for your presence.

I hope your hot bath and dinner helped reset the balance for you.

Not much to report today. I’m home from mum’s for a couple of nights now and it’s nice to be back. I just wish I had longer here before heading back to work. Definite case of the Sunday blues. Mum is doing as well as we could hope with her recovery but it will be slow. She’s in a lot of pain and looks like she’s been run over by a bus bless her. Her back is extremely bruised and stitched up but it’s her legs causing the most pain. The heated cushion we got her for Mother’s Day has been a godsend.

My council tax and water bills are now both in and are higher than last year’s but very slightly lower than I had budgeted for. My car insurance renewal quote has also come through very slightly more than last year, and although I can get cheaper through a comparison site, they would want a much higher excess, so I think I will be sticking to my original provider for the extra £1 a month.

My personal spends has been depleted by extra petrol and parking this week so I’ll be hopping along to payday now. Saying that, there isn’t anything I need and I was completely spoilt last weekend for Mother’s Day. There’s still money in the family treats pot, which we might use to celebrate the start of the Easter holidays next weekend.

A quick dinner of bacon and black pudding rolls (originally meant for Saturday breakfast) followed by a bath and reading is on the agenda to finish the weekend. A mini reset is all we have time for but it will be nice nonetheless. The two youngest have a teacher training day tomorrow so we don’t feel quite as rushed as usual.

Here’s to a new week. Let’s hope it brings a little more calm and kindness with it.

£80.99 refund has come through (full amount of the kettle and toaster bundle) today so I’ve sent that straight to the shower fund. We’ve decided to use our current kettle and a toaster we’ve kept for camping for now to save some money. They are far from perfect but are perfectly usable.

We have chosen a cabinet to replace the old one, which was here when we moved in, to help give us more storage and give the bathroom a facelift. £80 with voucher code.

Shower fund £270.65/£297 (clear on payday)

Bathroom cabinet £0/£80 (clear on payday)

It's lovely how you're framing all that, well done. I hope next week is a little easier on you when you get to it.
