Settling in for the long haul

Oh my days, my energy is zapped today. I am battling some sort of virus/chest cold. But, lots to be grateful for - I have been spoiled by Mr D and the kids for Mother’s Day and had a lovely afternoon tea at mum’s too (made here and transported round). I’m now on the sofa under a blanket and have read and rested for the last hour or two.
I have also been feeling very anxious this weekend about work and the realisation hit me earlier that it may be PMT-related. As soon as I acknowledged that, the stress lifted more than slightly. My work is stressful but I generally am able to compartmentalise and stay positive. It has started to feel a bit relentless lately though.
I’m reading the first of the Strike novels and am enjoying it now that I’ve got going with it. I must try and remember to pack it in my bag for my day at the hospital on Tuesday while I keep mum company as she waits for her surgery.
Not much happening here in regards to money-saving. I haven’t listed the item I have to sell yet, which is really unlike me. Definitely a sign that I’ve been overworked and under the weather this week! We did save on a roast dinner though - we were feeling too full of sandwiches and scones to go all out. Supper of tea and toast is called for and I’ll be happy with that.7 -
Hope you are feeling better soon. I hope the week ahead is a little less stressful

A better day at work today than I expected and I’m glad I powered through as we achieved what we’d hoped to.
Survey cash out of £12.50 tonight so sent that over to the shower fund. £189.55/212Strange to have driven to my mum’s after work tonight instead of home. I’ll be staying here with her tonight as we have a ridiculously early start in the morning for her surgery. Alarms should never start with a 4 in my opinion! Have FaceTimed the children and that felt really strange too - little one cried when it was time to say goodbye which wasn’t nice to see. This will definitely be the quietest evening I’ve had in a long time!

Thinking of you and your Mum.
Debt Free - 4th June 20250 -
Thank you all - it was really lovely to check in to kind messages. It was an early start and we were prepared by the surgeon for a cancellation as we were waiting - apparently they’d lost mum’s notes and were struggling to secure a bed for after the op. All ended well though and she was taken down first as it happened. She’ll be in surgery now, so I’m waiting at home and will head back over once she’s on the ward.
Lack of sleep and still being under the weather means I’m huddled up in bed while I wait. I will get some work done this afternoon once the room stops spinning. I probably ought to get some antibiotics if this carries on much longer 😞5 -
All is as well as we could hope for with my mum and we’ve had a good visit with her this evening. I think everyone in the family is feeling tired tonight, poor mum (obviously) included.
I have taken my travel cup of tea and water bottle with me both times to the hospital today as well as some fruit and snacks, avoiding unnecessary purchases. But the petrol and parking have been unavoidable spends and quite expensive. So far all covered from my petrol pot.
Feeling very grateful to have my mum out the other side and for the hardworking staff that are keeping her well cared for.I hope everyone else has had a good day.
