There's whole threads on here full of people asking how to set up small DDs just like this one - useful for bank switching bonuses.dazzaofdagenham said:
I just made a manual payment via card…Didn’t want a small amount via direct debit…..flaneurs_lobster said:
Not what you asked but - same deal - no increase info.dazzaofdagenham said:Been on the £1 deal from late last year….unlimited calls / Texts / 1GB data….not had any info from SKY about a increase
i did however pay the £12 for the year upfront.
anyone else took this deal and had info about increase ?
I had no idea you could fund a year upfront.0 -
So my renegotiation attempt got me nowhere. Despite me quoting ID's current 15GB for £6pm, Sky would not budge from the standard pricing - they wanted £12pm for 5GB (which is my average usage). This depite me calling to 'customer loyalty' and requesting my PAC code.
However I have a remortgage application coming up so, to avoid a hard search on my credit file, I've mixed down to 1GB for £5pm with Sky and will use the remaining data in my piggybank to make up the shortfall. Will review again in a few months.

Sky Mobile have been awful for a number of years. We had two contracts with them and I switched mine out a number of years ago to Lebara and then to ID Mobile and this evening have just switched my wife's out.
For her contract we were paying £9.60 per month SIMO (discounted by 20%) for 10GB. With the price hike of £3.00 per month on that contract, they said they could offer a discounted rate which would bring the monthly cost down to £9.80 per month for another 12 month contract. I said no… They said that early termination charges would apply as in my Ts & Cs they had already said mid-contract price rises would happen. As it was a nominal amount (5 weeks left) I couldn't be bothered to argue it and switched to ID Mobile for the deal below. On the basis she uses more than 10GB a month now anyway and the Piggy Bank was running dry, it's a win.
