Basically it's my computer and I decide where I want to install my files.
I don't want Microsoft to arbitrarily install a folder and move my folders along with their files.
Note, the folders and contents were moved, not copied, the 'correct' folder only held the Music and Videos folder.
One Drive is Microsoft's Cloud storage and sync service.
Some may say that they (MS) want you to use their service so that they can analyse your files for their own purposes.
In my case all the files were available in multiple places, so I could risk losing them.
I need to try it again tomorrow to see what happens.
It's only been a problem on this particular laptop, everything else has been ok.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
I agree when you say ''I don't want Microsoft to arbitrarily install a folder and move my folders along with their files.''. Microsoft collecting the users' data doesn't fully respect our privacy. I need to understand if/ how/where I can keep my files and how to access them. In the most user-friendly way, even if this means to be ''used'' by Microsoft. Thanks for your post.0

P.S. This particular laptop has never been associated with a Microsoft account. If you are running with no MS account then you should also check if Bitlocker has been turned on during a Windows Update.it has been happening. So you need to find and note down your encryption key for use if/when needed.Without a MS account you will not be able to retrive the key if/when a lockout happens. You could just turn bitlocker off again, but a future update may turn it on without telling you, so it's probably best to leave it running and make a note of the key if you are using a local account only.See:
