@goldfinches - OH! "Big Night"!!! I've been wanting to see that ever since I read Tucci's first book about food. Let me know when you're watching it and I'll bring the popcorn!!!

I did try watching it but couldn’t get into it at all.
I bought a very good selection of books from my local recently. Someone donated a lot of thrillers.5 -
Pretty petit four cutters, @goldfinches ,they reminded me of homemade Christmas tree decorations, called stained glass biscuits.
@Brie I signed up for Gift Aid to be claimed when my donated items are sold by the local hospice charity shop. All I have to do is show my hospice card number when I take things in.
We visited a national charity recently where visitors were asked to pay extra for them to claim Gift Aid on the entry fee, a double bonus for them. That seems like a rip off to me!

Is that the book where he documented everything he ate for a year? Its in my tsundocu pile (well 6 huge boxes actually 😏) that I just cannot bear to stick on the bookshelf as yet!
@goldfinches - I share this category but found similar garments to gape revealingly around the chest area. This was a lesson I learned hard as a 17yo and I ain't going back there!
@Nelliegrace - the stained glass biscuits look fabulous.

So much to read, so little time.9 -
I am going into Shoeburyness next week. I have only been there once to the beach since I've lived here. There looks like there are a couple of shops in Shoeburyness so I will take a look while I'm in the area.🙂

Oh now you've got me wondering…..I know that Taste was his first book. I think I have read What I ate in 1 Year but can't see it on the cookbook shelf. Then again the cookbook shelf is 2 books deep with assorted non cooking books so if it's here anywhere it may be in the garage.
OH keeps saying he's going to purge a lot of books so I'm looking at the World of Books site considering getting the app to see if things will be worth selling.

Thanks for all the responses to my last post and now a plea for information as I'm visiting the Manchester Media Quarter next weekend and will have most of Monday morning free before catching my train at 2:30ish from Manchester Piccadilly.
Where do you suggest I drop into between the Holiday Inn in the Media Quarter and the station? I don't want to waste this one and only opportunity to make the most of Manchester's charity shops and am obviously most interested in small things that are easily added to my luggage.
I did buy a couple of things from the AgeUK shop in St Clements yesterday on my way back from visiting a friend in hospital because I needed cheering up. I bought Gill Hornby's Godmersham Park, £2, and a Beldray hand held steam cleaner, £12.99, which I've wanted ever since I read this article.

Manchester has changed so much since my transient relocation there 18 (gulp!) years ago! I had to Google media city to work out exactlt where it is, its Salford in old money. Needless to say I'm unable to help but very interested in what your request throws up, Manchester is a fabulous city.
A resource I found in Patrick Grant's "Less" is a listing of re-use shops. The list is painfully thin on the ground but might help some:

So much to read, so little time.7 -
I'm getting caught out more and more on the distance of some events in my past. I might be thinking "a couple of years back" and then realise it's more like a couple of decades. I keep seeing a chap in the local Tesco that I used to work with and we both do a vague smile at each other but haven't stopped to chat. We worked at the same company, had desks about 20 feet apart, "a few years back". That'd be the place I left in 2003.
