@goldfinches - it looks like you had a cracker of a time on the chaz-hunt! You have inspired me to get my bake on, I have loads of stuff that I have never used but am finally learning to enjoy time spent creatively in my kitchen.
PS I have a copy fo Anthony Bourdain's "Kitchen Confidential" but not actually read it 😏. Let me know if "A Cook's Tour" is any good?

I was in Leigh-on-sea yesterday for two classes and it suddenly got much colder so I looked for a cardigan in the charity shops. I was in a hurry and couldn't find anything and then as I had to get to the second class I found something that was okay. It really was such an unflattering top. I got home and my husband "What on earth are you wearing?" haha, it will be donated back to a shop.😁

My sister collects Woodsware. These, from Ludlow today. £4 for the set.
I do have massive hands, but the cups are small!

I think the volume of the teacup can be a clue to the original age of the set, back when tea was a luxury item. Once the design & the mould are set up, its hard to change size without comment, hence my familiarity with espresso cups, tea cups, the breakfast cup & then the fleet of mugs Denby have form for.
Of course I'd like to see the business survive, but they haven't dared go significantly beyond their heritage, when in the past they had designers & artists working exclusively for them. Meanwhile they leave good solid products that keep right on going pretty much until they meet stone. (Ahem. For example.) By the time a bride is considering something as vintage as a wedding list, she has already chosen her Denby pattern, or whatever look she wants. The world is changing & if Denby won't keep up, it'll go down. Which I regret but they won't be the first or last.7 -
I’m sad about Denby. A British institution. More people on the manufacturing side made redundant this week. I have a lot of Denby bought or gifted over the last 40 odd years.

Yes, loosing the craftfolk was pretty much the death knell (as frankly management can be replaced) but the skilled hands, not.

Evening all, I was in M&S the other day and saw this top that I thought might suit me but I don't want to pay £40 😲 so have decided to see if I can find something very similar in a charity shop and perhaps buy some nice buttons to add to it. What do you think?
It was also displayed on a mannequin with some dark jeans that are almost identical to a pair I already own, mine even have the stitched centre seam on the legs, and I was quite taken with the look although I don't like the bag. I think I'd prefer a warmer colour for the top but will have to see what I can find.
That's given me an incentive to get on with my target of 100 things out or donated by the end of the month too.

I think that’s a lovely top @goldfinches but it wouldn’t suit me as it is too short in the body and I don’t fancy baring my midriff and scaring passers-by 😂😂. I’m sure you will find something in a charity shop, it’s amazing how things do appear when you are searching for them.
Has anyone seen the new charity shopping programme called “Shift The Thrift” (it’s on BBC I-player)? It’s presented by Joanna Page (I liked her in Gavin and Stacey, but she squealed over-excitedly in this!). The first episode has them trawling the chazzers in Eastbourne (apparently there are 35 of them there) and the next episode is set in Chepstow.9
