I ticked off a long overdue task from my to-do list this afternoon so to reward myself afterwards I came home via the Helen & Douglas House Hospice shop in Headington where I found these bargains.
The Pie book was £2.50, the V&A cds £2.25 and the Shute novel was £1.50. I have an electronic copy already but a hard copy still feels more real to me.
These three cds were all £0.75 each which felt good value to me.
I didn't find any nice scarves or any Persephone books this visit so I'll just have to keep looking.

@goldfinches I LOVE Neville Shute; On the Beach and A Town Like Alice are so great. He is almost unpublishable these days though …

Neville Shute unpublishable? (Scampers off to Google "writing, content, or materials that are unsuitable, unfit, or unacceptable for public release, printing, or distribution")
Ye gods I read 'a town like Alice' when I was in school - OK we didn't have trigger warnings then but I must have missed the bits that were "unacceptable for public release". Or are we far too tender of the impressionable young minds, or the feelings of others?9 -
You say that, but as a 12yo I hated Wuthering Heights - mainly because I couldn't get my softy southerner head around what crabby old Joseph was saying. As an adult, the themes include coercive control and plenty of physical domestic violence. Not suitable for a Year 8 I wager.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.9 -
On Wednesday afternoon I visited the Oxfam shop in Summertown with some friends and here are the things I bought. The cookbook was £6.99.

@DigForVictory He is just very much out of literary fashion (NB I don't agree with this!) and seen as quite obscure and a bit too 'middle-brow' these days. I have just been reading up on him online and discovered that as well as selling 15 million books, he was the owner of the first dishwasher in Australia! What more could you want from life?
Actually, what you could want is a happy hour in some different charity shops to my normal. Today's bargins:
- a gorgeous jumpsuit from Crew Clothing. Navy blue with polka dots and very flattering from Spring. £10
- a Land's End navy long-sleeve for dog walking. £5.
- A Decathlon zip-up top in hot pink, also for dog walking £6
- A silver crossbody bag from Topshop. I love it so much; it allows me to return to my 15-year-old self.
- A pair of lovely leather pumps from https://www.lunarshoesonline.co.uk/. I'd never heard of them but feel a new obsession coming on. A pair of cream leather pumps that look very lightly worn for £8. I will now attempt to add photos!

I love the shoes and the jumpsuit. I have one from M&S that is beautiful but I never wear for reasons of (im)practicality. Looks good, but is less than convenient on a night out!
