I'm off to Brighton and then Bournemouth for my birthday next week. I know the Brighton charity shops quite well, but I'm not sure about Bournemouth. Would anyone on here have any recommendations?

As posted elsewhere. The best upmarket ones are in Ferndown but there's a good array in Poole and some very nice ones in Christchurch. I've never known there to be much of any variety in Bournemouth itself but Westbourne is only a mile(ish) up the road and there are some nice ones there as well. But it's Ferndown where I got my Gucci scarf. (BNWT in it's box and packaging, £30, RRP stupidly high for sale on fleabay for £300 or something silly for one that was stained and un ironed.)

Thanks Brie. I think the hotel we had last time was near Westbourne, but I didn't try any shops there. Ah, yes it was - The Riviera Hotel.

@Brie - and all those who are interested in scarves, there was a very interesting article about hijab scarf fashions in today's Guardian. (There's no paywall although they do try very hard to get you to donate to them as they are a charity now.)

I have to say a scarf comes in incredibly handy when there is unexpected rain / humid conditions. Its ideal for frizz-sparing properties!

I thought that exact same thing about scarves the other day! I used mine as an umbrella the other day and it worked quite well.

I've often been taken by how lovely some hijab scarves are and keep meaning to ask someone to show me how they put them on. Unfortunately it always seems a bit creepy to approach a random stranger in a public loo with this request!!! Especially as I'm shaped like a brick, don't dress at all fem and have ridiculously short hair - some women have checked the door to see if they've wandered into the gents by mistake. Last thing I want to do is make someone feel uncomfortable.

Find the shops that sell them, & ask. I pop in just to get a hit of colour, as whilst I dress functional, I do like the sensational saris and to briefly drool over the jewellery. (I work at a keyboard & screen so half my dowry in bangles isn't practical, but it's a fun daydream.) Another route might be any mehindi stall where you too can be beautifully piped with henna paste?

Have you tried utube there used to several videos showing different ways to wear hijab.
