my relative must have spent thousands of £££ on the items they gave me and i’m selling them for peanuts. i thought i would get about £3000, but at the rate im going, id be lucky to get £1000. but as i said in my previous post, i didnt buy any of it, so whatever i make is pure profit.

i agree with you, @helensbiggestfan about selling being more hassle than it’s worth, but as i’ve already listed the items, i’ve done the work, but i’ve still got loads more to list and that is where my motivation is low, but then, my home is cluttered with the stuff 😂 so i have to get rid of it. Today, i went to the Post office on my lunch break to send an item i had sold and was queuing for nearly 45 minutes. i thought i may as well use my lunch break at work, but thr Post Office near my home is like a 5 minute queue time max.

Chanie…..I know what you mean about having to sell items for less than what they might actually be worth. I think that's why I have held on for so long. Misplaced guilt feelings about money wasted. Lol. Then I think well it's not doing anything sat there in the cupboard/wardrobe/garage. Tbh I just to want to clear it all, whilst I still can. I really don't want to leave my family with the headache of having to deal with it all at a later date.

Right - just going to do an online grocery shop and then get cracking. It's a bit drizzly here but hopefully it's set to brighten up later.

funny you mentioned the clearing out. My Mum was talking about decluttering and she mentioned our ‘Inheritence’ of various collectibles she has saved for us like royal mint coins and creepy dolls. i remember seeing them as a child and Mum telling us these items would be worth a fortune in the future. i told her that my generation and younger just aren’t interested in crystal glass wear etc and i doubt people will be clambering to buy these things. i think the type of things people want to collect changed, but maybe im wrong.

Hi Chanie, you could save yourself time and money by buying labels for your Royal Mail parcels online on the Royal Mail website. Your parcels are then eligible for free collection from your local postman from your doorstep, for your eBay sales. I am presuming you have a printer, ink cartridge/s and printer paper.

Not having to queue at a local post office will make sending parcels to your eBay buyers less of an onerous task.

Another tip is that grey mailing bags in all sizes can be bought for very reasonable prices in quantity on eBay.

I need to have a real clear out of my excess clothes, shoes, handbags and boots, so I have bought some larger sizes of grey mailing bags on eBay myself. Most of my items are still brand new, some with tags and and most of the shoes and boots are new in their boxes. Handbags are lightly used. I also have other items that I intend to list for sale on eBay.

Just catching up. Selling to me always seems like hard work but I do need to pop a few better dresses on Vinted. Just bought a fabulous pair of cowboy boots. Someone bought them for her daughter 16 years ago when her daughter was 2 and her daughter grew up to have chunky legs so they didn’t fit. These were a bargain for me as we’re as new and unworn

Made me think about my “style “ a bit. My life is changing. I’m living in shorts and vests which isn’t really fab.

somehow I need to come up with a plan that fits my lifestyle now rather than the one from maybe 9 years ago when I got a coach to help me clear my wardrobe.

I'm too lazy to sell things on Vinted. I just donate everything as I don't like clutter.

I just had a wonderful massage. It has taken me until the age of 50 to find a massage I like. It was a Manual Lymphatic Massage.😍 I was talking to the woman who came out looking equally blissed out and she said she is usually a massage therapist herself but she thought she derserved some pampering!

I am off to Brighton again this weekend. I hope the weather stays nice like today as yesterday it was pouring with rain. I want to go around the chazzers and eat out at nice restaurants. I am meeting my friend on Saturday and another few people on Sunday and then meeting someone for lunch on Monday and then coming home. I'm then off to Ibiza for a few days. I've never been there before. I have to try on my outfits I'm taking beforehand. I have what I hope is a good poolside book to take with me.😎

SUgarbaby…nice to see you. Great advice there with an easier way to send parcels. My printer is playing up but if I can get her to stop sulking I might see if I can give it a whirl, especially as I no longer have a car and getting to the post office is a bit of a faff.

Watty. There is lot of good style advice on you tube. Just use the search engine. Type in something like Style for overs 50s and take it from there. You will be led down a very enjoyable rabbit hole and you'll learn lots of tricks and tips. The good news is we are coming into autumn when we can start layering again. I find summer can be quite tricky clotheswise, especially when it's very hot. I find it easier to dress more stylishly in the cooler weather.

In the past I got a lot of my style inspiration from films. I call it "Filmspiration". Lol. especially classy thrillers such as "The Thomas Crown Affair" Pierce Brosnan version. I also liked the clothes in Parent Trap, the remake with Natasha Richardson, both female characters are dressed beautifully.

Perhaps take a look at some of those "Best dressed" lists. And not just young modern day women, some of the best dressed people ever are now long since departed - perennial classics such as Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, Katherine Hepburn, Princess Dianna, Caroline Bisset Kennedy, Lauren Bacall etc. Their clothes and personal styles are just as relevant and wearable today as they were decades ago. They wore classic styles that have never dated.

If you can find a copy there is a great book on style called "More Dash Than Cash". It was written in the 80s but the advice is just as relevant today as it ever was. I got my copy off Amazon.

Chanie…..I discussed this very thing with my DIL. She asked why I had stopped eBaying as much. My answer was it takes just as much time and effort to list a £10 item as it does to list a £100 item. Then add in the fees etc and you are "working" for peanuts.

Where I used to be able to make my time work for me and save a lot of money was in DIY projects. I used to do lots of simple home improvement tasks myself, such as painting, laying laminate flooring, restoring furniture, making my own curtains and soft furnishings etc. Alas what with my knee and shoulder I struggle a bit now. That's why I'm determined to get them sorted out. So I will continue taking the collagen and keep my fingers crossed that it delivers on its promise to reduce pain and increase mobility. It's been about 6 weeks and I think it's starting to work. 🤞🤞🤞. Slow progress though. And tbh I'm not the most patient of patients. Lol.

I have just ordered my new sofa, deferring delivery till 22nd September, giving me time to use the empty floor space to steam clean some of my rugs.

I found collagen helped me very much. But you have to be patient. I would say it was about 6 months before I decided I would never not take collagen!
