I don't usually comment, but I like to read along. I've not seen helensbiggestfan comment anywhere for quite some time. Does anyone know if she is ok?

I'm here……alive and kicking. To be honest I don't know why I haven't posted, no excuse. Just time slipping by so fast. The summer heatwaves just knocked me sideways, draining me of all energy. I could scarcely be bothered to do anything. Anyway I'm just so glad that it's over, back to normal factory reset. Lol. I love the autumn and the "ber"months. So looking forward to "cosy time" and proper food. I got so fed up with salads and picky bits.
One thing I did do over the summer was start taking collagen. It's been about 5 weeks now. Apparently it takes about 3 months to take full effect so it's early days but I feel like somethings happening. I decided to take it to see if I could improve my joints, especially my knee. Of course if it improves my hair, skin etc then that will be a nice bonus. Anyway I think it might be working, my knee seems to be improving slightly. And my nails are growing like crazy. It would be nice if my hair were to thicken up a bit, so keeping my fingers crossed. I think I can see new growth around the hairline. I actually have a hair appt this week. I bought some bamboo combs, hopefully less damaging than plastic.
I have bought some new "at home" leisure wear for autumn, soft easy palazzo style jersey trousers, a bit more elegant than my old leggings. They are now relegated to gardening and diy. I bought some sweaters but they are bit tight. I wont send them back, they weren't expensive, I'll put them away for when I finally lose some weight and just buy a few more to keep me going for now. No need for new coats, gloves etc or winter clothing. I'm pretty well sorted. Also bought some new make up.
Big plans for the autumn, a massive declutter, new furniture and home furnishings. But first I need to sort out the garden…….the heatwaves wrecked it, lost loads of plants. Hey ho. That's life.
Hope you are all well and keeping up the fabbing.

Good to hear from you, as I said I don't often comment, but I love to read along and enjoy your posts.
Regarding collagen, I had both knees replaced, around 15 years ago now, I was in my fifties when they were done. Years of being on my feet in my career of nursing wrecked them. It was the best thing I ever did. But since then I have had problems with my hips, groin pain which I believe is linked to hip arthritis, shoulder pain and thumb pain including trigger thumb. I tried collagen and I swear it helped a huge amount. I can't put the improvement down to anything else and as we all know osteoarthritis doesn't get better on it's own, well it doesn't get better full stop. But I have no hip or groin pain now ,my shoulder is much better as are my thumbs. Whether it would have helped my knees I don't know because they were extremely bad, but taking collagen wasn't so popular then. I don't know about my hair and nails, I only take the tyoe which us good for joints, there are different types. This only my experience, others may different experiences.
The summer has been hard for me and ny garden, but we are both getting back to normal now. It's bliss to be able to take the dogs on a good walk as well.

Good Morning lovely ladies. Trialled a new hairdresser this morning, a mobile one. I had let my grow so I could try a new style, I wanted a style similar to Natasha Richardsons in the Parent Trap. She did a really good job and I'm delighted with it. A fair price and I didn't have to leave the comfort of my own home.
We got to talking about supplements, Vitamins etc. I told her I was trialling Collagen. She said she could see some new hair growth around my hairline so I guess it's starting to work. She asked how long I had been taking it (about 5 weeks now) and told me to keep going. She said she had started taking it in January because her hands were almost crippled with arthritis, I guess being a hairdresser hasn't helped. She told me that her thumbs had been almost locked and were agony. She showed me how full movement has been restored and she said she is now pain free.
It was nice to hear someone give such a glowing testament in real life rather than reading reviews and watching people on the internet. I'm definitely going to keep going. She also suggested I added a zinc supplement too, so I will order some. I have noticed that the ridges in my nails seem less pronounced, and my knee is definitely having more "good days".
The sun has come out so going to have a potter in the garden and soak up some Vit D.

a good hairdresser is worth their weight in gold. my hairdresser is mobile, whilst i miss going to a salon sometimes, it’s so convenient having my hairdresser come to me.
ive been selling on ebay for the past 6 months or so and have made about £400 after fees. A relative had lots of unused/lightly worn clothes, bags, shoes etc, which i’ve been selling. the only downside is that i have had to sell the items really cheaply (under £15 for a pair of brand new shoes) as they they aren’t selling for much more and i’ve had to reduce my prices, from what i thought was reasonable (eg £25 for a pair or leather shoes, unworn). but as i didn’t pay for any of it, it’s all profit.
My children are back at school this week, so it’s back to normal until Christmas now. I love autumn, it’s always a nice time of year for me.

Good Morning Lovely Ladies.
Chanie……Well done on the eBay sales. You're making me feel a bit guilty, I have a stack of stuff to go but can't face the hassle of trying to sell on eBay or similar. The last few times I have tried have been very disappointing. Prices seem to have crashed and like you I had to discount things just to get rid of them. It just didn't seem worth the time and effort. I know every little helps and all that but I have decided to only sell items over a certain amount on eBay. And donate the rest.I noticed a couple of companies offering to buy job lots (a bit like vintage Cash Cow) but I appreciate they probably don't pay much but I thought I might try them for the cheaper items. Just bundle them all together and see what happens.
Handyman coming later to give me a hand in the garden and sorting out garage and taking stuff to the tip. He too is worth his weight in gold. 😁
