Although Pure Cremations have probably made more money than the chap in Hull?

Compare with a public health funeral where family may well be informed and permitted to attend the crematorium if they wish.

I heard the Radio 4 programme about Pure Cremation. It was the daughter who complained on the programme because she was expecting a funeral ceremony at a local crematorium. it was obvious that her mother had not talked to the family about her wishes.

I had received posted (Printed) advert leaflets a couple of days earlier and it could not be clearer what you are buying into. I know that I want something like this and have discussed it with children.

    Included:

Collection from anywhere in mainland England, Scotland, Wales

Transfer to a crematorium and a solid pine eco-coffin

Cremetation fees for unattended committal at the crematorium of our choice

Hand return of ashes to any mainland address

All costs associated with the delivery of an unattended cremation when planholder dies

    NOT included:

    A hearse, limousine or flowers

    A ceremony athe crematorium

    A minister or celebrant

    A choice of crematorium

Mourners attending committal at the crematorium

I'm rather surprised that there is use of a wooden coffin - is this some kind of regulatory/handling requirement or just an aesthetic addition?

IDK, but when we asked about cardboard for someone - a few years ago admittedly - it was cheaper to go with the basic wood.

They probably have one huge one of their own on some brownfield site, to keep costs down. ( with a conveyor belt)

You could just look it up

    https://www.purecremation.co.uk/charlton-park-crematorium

I'd be gobsmacked if there were NOT a conveyor belt.

Interestingly, that link does mention the availability of a ceremony.

If you would like to attend, we offer a 20-minute farewell with up to 12 attendees and music of your choice, from £395 (some restrictions apply)

That facility serves all of England/Wales, they have deals with other crematoria in Scotland/NI

There's coverage on the BBC and elsewhere today about an ASA ruling banning a recent TV advert. And references the fact that the deceased had been sent to Knutsford and would have been cremated at Nottingham, not Andover.
